Have you seen My Old Ass or Snack Shack yet?
Both are currently streaming on Amazon I believe.
My Old Ass was charming and sweet. Aubrey Plaza's really hitting her stride.

That’s a construct of the 1939 movie and not the Baum books.Never seen the musical and I bet the movie is good within the context of its source material but I have a question about the source material in general.
In The Wizard of Oz and In the much Darker sequel A Return To Oz, the land of Oz can be seen as something occurring within the mind of Dorothy Gale. An imaginary world helping her cope with her loneliness.
To me, whether Oz is a magical world or an imaginary world doesn’t matter all that much but I think what makes the story interesting is that it’s open for interpretation it could be either. It’s my understanding that Wicked is a prequel of sorts, telling the story of the witches of Oz, My question is this, does the new story keep the possibility that the whole world of Oz might all just be an an imaginary world in Dorothy’s head alive or does it abandon that possibility to dive into the Villains backstory?
Ah, So in the book, Oz just a magical world then? So Wicked is more in line with the novel than the movies. That’s a construct of the 1939 movie and not the Baum books.
I would assume the musical and movie take the route of playing to the ‘39 movie (the original story is one of the most filmed properties of all time with the Garland film being the most famous but like the tenth version or something). I’ve not read Wicked or seen the movie so I can’t really speak to it.Ah, So in the book, Oz just a magical world then? So Wicked is more in line with the novel than the movies.
In the book wicked (and subsequent musical), it is just a magical world, yes. It’s a long polemic on the nature of evil (something you are versus something you do).Ah, So in the book, Oz just a magical world then? So Wicked is more in line with the novel than the movies.
A distinct (yet not shocking) lack of The Substance. Move along, AFI.This is probably our best picture lineup at the oscars coming up, give or take maybe one of these. A step down from last year, but it's okay. I'd swap Emilia Perez (not an American movie, and bad) with Challengers. Still need to see a few.

I would very much like to get that blu-ray from the gettin' place (you) if you're offering.Anybody want the standard Blu-ray of No Country for Old Men (unopened)? I've got the new Criterion headed my way and would love to send this one on to a good home.
Yup- just DM me your address and I'll send this guy to your house!I would very much like to get that blu-ray from the gettin' place (you) if you're offering.
I didn't chime in earlier, but when it came out I probably watched The Hudsucker Proxy at least a dozen times. Obviously they've done so much great (and certainly better) work since then, but it holds a nostalgic place for me and I wouldn't change the channel if it was on.
