Ah maaan I was gonna attend that screening too, kinda bummed PTA was there. When they announced it they wouldn’t disclose the title of the film. Instead I went to…swimming lessons

This is probably the best film of 2024, and the fact that it's so hard to find only accentuates its importance. Enraging and heartbreaking, but absolutely essential.

Contact (1997) is playing at a small indie here in PDX; the wife and I went last night, and it was surprisingly packed for a Monday. Like 30-40 people, pretty full for that space. Lots of families, all the kids were locked in to what I'd say is a pretty talky movie. A guy and his little daughter were walking out ahead of us and she was looking up at the stars the whole time. <3

Lots of families, all the kids were locked in to what I'd say is a pretty talky movie. A guy and his little daughter were walking out ahead of us and she was looking up at the stars the whole time. <3

Oh man, I remember seeing Contact for the first time. Wonderful experience. On par with Close Encounters and The Arrival in the "aliens are our friends" genre.

I always liked this one because the alien kid’s knees bent backwards. For the longest time I thought that was from Contact.
