YESSSSS

This filmed here in Sacramento last year

YESSSSS

Ah maaan I was gonna attend that screening too, kinda bummed PTA was there. When they announced it they wouldn’t disclose the title of the film. Instead I went to…swimming lessons

Contact (1997) is playing at a small indie here in PDX; the wife and I went last night, and it was surprisingly packed for a Monday. Like 30-40 people, pretty full for that space. Lots of families, all the kids were locked in to what I'd say is a pretty talky movie. A guy and his little daughter were walking out ahead of us and she was looking up at the stars the whole time. <3

might be my personal favorite Zemeckis

Oh man, I remember seeing Contact for the first time. Wonderful experience. On par with Close Encounters and The Arrival in the "aliens are our friends" genre.
They showed some contemporaneous and thematically-similar trailers, and The Arrival was on there:

Never heard of it before this; Sheen looks like Steven Segal meets Gordon Freeman here.
