N&G Secret Santa 2024

Holy moly, I am stunned! Picked up a package wrapped up in the Fort Knox equivalent of tape today, sent from the North Pole, which is in AZ apparently. Who knew? After carefully cutting open with surgical precision, I was blessed with a plethora of wonderful gifts!

First off on the left side, an awesome Zia Records shirt, a couple air fresheners and some stickers.

Upper left is The Bandulus - Ska, Reggae, Soul. On orange with yellow sunburst vinyl. Don't know this one, looking forward to checking it out.

Upper right album is a soul of CASH, a Johnny Cash soul covers album. Haven't heard this, but I know and love all the songs on it, so also excited to spin this! This one's on black smoke vinyl, very cool.

Lower left is Get Dead - Dancing With The Curse. Santa said it's one of their most spun albums. I usually keep up with the Fat Wreck stuff, but somehow this one escaped me. Looking forward to spinning this one the most!

Finally, in the lower right we have RX Bandits - ...And the Battle Begun. This one has been on my 'cogs wantlist for ages. No worries on the color Santa, I just picked one so that it was on the list. Absolutely love this album and I am stoked to have this in my collection finally!

Didn't post the note Santa included, but there were letters underlined throughout that identify my Santa. Unless this and the post about it shipping matching the postmark on the package were an elaborate red herring, thank you very much @scotthilk I love it!

Came home from work to find out that I got visited by Santa!!!!



They knocked it out of the park with this! Bjork is an artist I know I’d love if I would just give her a chance and now I have the perfect opportunity to do so. Mouse Rat is perfect since i literally just started rewatching Park and Rec the other week. Never heard of the Rockford but im always down for female fronted rock, especially when Nancy Wilson appears on it. Glad you sent me these albums you love and I can’t wait to dive into them when I’m off on friday

Santee, this year I will probably also be a little bit late. Border crossing time are always hell to navigate this season and haven't been able to get to the Post Office in time, but I'll be sure to send a little bit of extra joy in your package.

Excellent, glad they arrived safe and sound!

I knew that I wanted to focus on female-fronted artists for this, and while I was listening to Homogenic I checked your discogs against it and was surprised to see there wasn't any Björk in your collection, so that was an easy choice. This particular album is more electronica with some exceptional beats, I think you'll dig it.

The Rockfords is a personal favorite, my favorite Pearl Jam side project. Carrie Arke has great presence on the album as the lead singer.

And Mouse Rat! Since it was on your wishlist, Santa wanted to make sure you could Catch Your Dream.

My wife just sent me a text and told me I got a package from FirstName LastName and I thought, hey I remember that name, that's @duke86fan! We've shipped each other pifs before and only live about 20-30 miles away from each other so it's an easy one to remember. With that clue I'm 99% sure that means Dukey is my Santa. But when my wife asked me if she could open it, I said

One of thsse days I'll finally give Elliott a go.

I love them all, but XO was my first, and always stayed my favorite (I have a few bands like that where all their other just-as-good albums can never match the first album of theirs I heard).

Thank you Santa Samurai! These must've arrived after the kiddo and I got home yesterday evening, but the courier must've had other stuff for the building too because I never got buzzed, so imagine my surprise to find a package in the lobby when I was leaving to pick the kiddo up an hour and a half ago. I thought about waiting but hit a solid patch of traffic jam and was too excited to see what was in the box!

You've filled two massive holes in my collection – one of which I'm very familiar with, the other not at all. Madvillain will pair up well with the copy of Operation: Doomsday that I finally picked up. Elliott Smith is a great callback to the conversation earlier in this thread... I guess Santa IS always watching!
