Neverending Covid-19 Coronavirus

Perhaps my perspective is different because for all of my adult life older people have said things that are sweeping negative assumptions about Millennials that aren't based on fact and blamed Millennials for all of the problems they have faced. Never in any of those comments was I offended by being referred to as a Millennial or even a snowflake, nor did I think either approached a slur at any point. To me, the only thing that was offensive was the substance and intent of the statements, IF I found them remotely offensive that is.
I’m Gen X so I’m right in the middle of the Gen X - Boomer bickering and see a little of both sides.

My generation pretty much just roamed the streets and were told to come home before the street lights came on.

One positive thing to happen to our family during this pandemic is that my Mom isn't going to come out to visit.

She was coming out for my daughters 8th Grade graduation, but since school is canceled, so it that. With things still not really opened up yet, she /we decided that not coming was the best thing....even tho Mississippi (where she lives) is opening things up now. (because of course they are).

Here is a good read on why people believe conspiracy theories about COVID-19.

Lol, people are okay with beaches being closed in California after a deadly shark attack yesterday, but not when they are closed because people are not following social distancing guidelines. Statically you are more likely to be struck by lightning or killed by a cow than attacked by a shark. And much more likely of dying of COVID-19.

They fear the sharks and perceive them as much more of a threat to their life or their children than COVID-19.

Wow, it just amazing seeing how divided we are as Americans over issues like wearing masks.

For example, where I went to high school in rural western Massachusetts most people republican. Many of spread out across the country.

I just watched a snapchat story from a former classmate who now lives in the midwest. In an area that has opened back up and has no policies mandating that you wear a mask.

She went to Goodwill this morning and was refused entry into the store because she wasn't wearing a mask. And the tone of the video was she has no intention of wearing one and that that trip to Goodwill was a 'huge fucking waste of my time" and that "it's their loss of business" over their oppressive policies. "They just lost a customer".

I just find this insane, even more so coming from people I knew growing up.

I also honestly believe that stores in these parts that advertise as "mask free zones" probably benefit more than stores mandating a mask.

It's amazing (but not all that surprising to me) how this pandemic managed to be politicized.

All kidding aside there are a lot of Juggalos on my block, and they are all pretty down to earth ,have pretty good jobs and are pretty normal except for when they wild out and put on the clown make up.

Wait? you live in a neighborhood where there is multiple Juggalos? How did this happen? And how did you find out? Do the all stand at the end of their driveway in make up? Did they all decide to buy houses together?

I don’t think so, most people will do what they are supposed to do without issue even if they are unhappy about it. Right now though there is just a loud obnoxious selfish few that are throwing tantrums. These people need to grow up. No one wants to wear a mask, we do it because that is why we have to do, especially right now, to protect people. It is one thing to not have any sort of policy on wearing masks it is another to tell customers they CAN’T wear one. It would be like a a taxi company had a policy that Their cabs were “seatbelt free”. The only reason you have a “mask free” policy is because you are an asshole plain and simple.

Yeah I live on a city block with a out 50 houses on each side of the street . There’s a couple that live across the street from me and they rent out their basement to another couple, they would always have parties over there and my neighbor on my side of the street started dating one of the juggalettes, now he’s a juggalo and there’s parties on both sides.

The weird anger over having to wear a mask to keep not only yourself from getting Covid but not spreading it to others is just astounding. I guess we're pretty insular over here in East Dallas because not wearing a mask is the exception. I truly do not understand the odd flex about not being forced to wear a mask.

Right? Could you imagine if these people were asked to ration or turn off lights at night during war time? Suck it up buttercup.

Around boston and Salem, most everyone is wearing a mask in public. Minus the few who are not wearing one between their apartment and their car which they should be according to the order.

But you go west to rural, and red leaning western Massachusetts and people wearing masks are the exception. Most people are not wearing one in defiance of the governors order.

From what I have seen there are some regions where mask wearing is the norm, and others where refusing to wear a mask is the norm. It's just crazy.

There are even jokes about how to identify a liberal based on mask wearing.

I think this is probably true for somewhere where it has been mandated. However, based on what I have seen here this weekend, whatever isn't mandated, the majority of people will not follow. Most people I have seen are definitely ready to go back to normal based on their actions and no masks are to be seen for the most part.

I think it is a good illustration of why the mandates are necessary.

From what I see in Philly it's about 70 percent of people wearing their masks, but there's a few areas where you won't see any masks. A lot of minorities just won't wear them because they believe they will be harassed even more by the police if they seen outside wearing a mask. A few neighborhoods closer to the suburbs just ignore masks entirely like it's beneath them. Some guys won't wear them because they think they're tough guys and masks are for sissies, and a lot of people in this city are just insane. Like the sanitarium closed for lack of funding and just let out the mostly non violent inmates out on the street kind of crazy,
