New Music Friday!

Lovin' it!

Never heard of this artist. I like the album cover. I breezed through the tracks and I'm not sure what it is about the snippets I heard (maybe just the lo fi aesthetic šŸ¤”), but I oddly enjoyed it. Gonna add this one to my list to check out later. Thanks for the rec!

EDIT: Just listened to the album and really enjoyed it!

That Wormrot album made me instantly want to listen to Magrudergrind again

Their s/t is a Grindcore classic

Ha! Yes, Magrudergrind! It's been a minute since I've listened to them šŸ¤˜

Also makes me want to go back and listen to Nails, although they are more in the vein of powerviolence and deathgrind šŸ¤˜

They only have a few albums, but they all kick ass. Their most recent in 2016 made it pretty high on my AOTY list that year (top 15?), and 2016 was the best year in the 2010s for new music (IMO).
ooooh I was super into grindcore and other screamo/hardcore bands way back in 2010. I might go back down rabbit hole today because I realized I hadn't even heard Magrudergrind's most recent album from 2016

Yeah, consequently, Magrudergrind's second album, II, also made my AOTY list for 2016 šŸ˜…

Also, be sure to check out Nails' 2016 album You Will Never Be One Of Us šŸ¤˜

From Bristol, UK, Katy J Pearson is back with her sophomore album Sound Of The Morning. This 11-track outing of indie pop and alternative styles was a welcomed surprise, as this is my first experience with Katy's music. Her voice, to my ears, is a blend of Joanna Newsom, Adrianne Lenker, and someone else who I just can't put my finger on.. I feel like this one will be very well accepted by a lot of folks on here. I definitely recommend checking this one out today.

My friend really liked her first album, and I hadn't given it an honest run. I'll listen to this one later today.

My good friend turned me on to the Canadian progressive synth pop, alternative/indie band ā€ŠMetric back in 2015, and, subsequently, their vocalist, Emily Haines. Emily also has a side project, Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton. I've been a fan of both projects since my introduction, but they've always just missed my AOTY lists in their respective years. I digress. ā€ŠMetric's newest album ā€ŠFormentera surprise (to me) dropped yesterday. I'm already three full listens in and I'm loving it! Emily Haines' vocals are amazing as usual.

Really hope Lizzo sticks the landing but Iā€™m a little nervous. ā€œAbout Damn Timeā€ is the song of the summer for me but ā€œGrrrlsā€ may be my least favorite song by her. Also canā€™t really judge based on this but some of those song titles on the track list seem a little iffy lol
I feel the exact same way about the two singles so far. Really hoping it's an AOTY contender though!

It's definitely starting the day off right for me!
Hope y'all enjoy it as much, or more.

Today I've got Elf Power, ...Trail of Dead and Interpol on my list, not sure if this is a new music Friday or just a regular Friday many many years ago.... also enjoyed the new DJ Premier EP..... what year is it again?
