New Music Friday!

Man, I did not like the new Megadeth and Callous Daoboys did nothing for me either. I do like the new Artic Monkeys song, but I don't think it is something I will ever seek out. Which is how I am feeling about this Tom Chaplin album. Was the new Wayne Shorter live album recorded from the next city over?

The Callous Daoboys album was a let down for me, too, unfortunately..

I am looking forward to Greentea Peng, Sudan Archive, and Sarah Davachi. I think the Live at the Detroit Jazz Fest is probably going to be a really good one too.

lol, so Deerhoof came out with a new single called "My Lovely Cat" based on a viral video. And the song is fun, buuuutttt

When I think about a song called "My Lovely Cat", I can't help but thinking about this lovely classic (@Joe Mac )

Song for Europe is right up there in the pantheon of great Fr. Ted episodes! It was written, like the theme tune, by Neil Hannon of the Divine Comedy.

In with the new...

🔥
  • J.I.D - The Forever Story [the hip-hop heads have spoken]
  • Hatis Noit - Aura [on the verge of revelatory. Album artwork? FKA Twigs. Atmosphere? Dead Can Dance. Vocal technique? Inimitable. Earth-shaking, and certainly not the most accessible. Thanks, @nolalady] {released in Q2}
👍
  • The Chats - Get Fucked
  • Diamanda Galás - Broken Gargoyles
  • ShrapKnel - Metal Lung
  • Christina Vantzou, Michael Harrison, John Also Bennett - Christina Vantzou, Michael Harrison, John Also Bennett [beautiful, yet feels like I've heard this album five times already this year]
🤷‍♂️
  • Sigh - Shiki [heard some hype for this one (particularly on RYM), and I'm not sure I share that praise. The electronics on a few of the tracks were absolutely unnecessary and distracting]

EDIT: Rachika Nayar - Heaven Come Crashing is 👍 ➡️ 🔥
