New Music Friday!

Finally have given the new Mountain Goats some good listens and I love it a lot. It does remind me of Beat The Champ in a way, in terms of the tempos and writing style - this is a very good thing. There may be a couple of moments where I feel like his delivery of certain melodies or lyrics sound too familiar to at least one or two songs he's done before. It makes me stop in my tracks a bit and think 'wait a sec...what does this remind me of?' That said, I can mostly write off such a tiny criticism. It's a fun, dark album. And I love Alicia Bognanno's production on it. She makes these songs just feel alive. I thought it might have sounded more lo-fi, like Bully, but it really doesn't.
"Bleed Out" (the song) and "Getting Into Knives" (the song) are basically the same.

For underground hip hop fans, new Shrapknel album from last Friday is definitely worth a listen:

AKAI SOLO has an EP coming out this Friday, Body Feeling, that I'm really looking forward to.

Also looking forward to checking out the Roc Marci x ALC album when I can check it out for free this Friday.

Finally got around to checking the ShrapKnel album. Way dope. Thanks for the heads-up.

This new Julia Jacklin feels like a grower. It's not jumping out to me as much as her first two did on first listen. It almost feels a little like the Phantastic Ferniture album but slower
Update: It is indeed a grower. holy fucking shit.

My first two listens on Friday were on shitty iphone headphones. Over the weekend I listened to it twice on my turntable and once in my car and it really opened up for me. She's an incredible songwriter so I knew it was only a matter of time. The first 5 songs are incredible, tracks 6-8 haven't done anything for me yet, but the last two.... wow. "End of a Friendship" might be the best song she's ever written

I think this might, overall, be better than Crushing. I don't think it'll top DLTKW since that one is too perfect of an album IMO.
