You guys are making me feel much better about adding another Yo La Tengo album to my collection.
Glad we could help..You guys are making me feel much better about adding another Yo La Tengo album to my collection.
Nice! And you don’t even have a Bowie Avatar. I just assumed you collected rare shellac Blues 78’s and Beyoncé records.I just have lots of Bowie

I like it so far. I will need a few more listens to have a cohesive opinion on it. "Let's Make a Mistake Tonight" is SUPER CATCHY. I've listened to the whole album twice today but that song about 7 times already, it's such a "bop"I'm curious to know your thoughts on Pollen

He’s your modern day Sun Ra.This is probably my next highest, but this spread out over so many different projects and guest spots. Also the real number is higher since he's not always named in the Discogs credits for some of what I have...

First time listening to a full Yo La Tengo album. I'm digging this quite a bit so far. I definitely think @TenderLovingKiller® should pick this up!
uhhh I mighta picked it up over lunch break. Also found a nice used copy of Bonnie 'Prince' Billy/Matt Sweeney sequel Superwolves for $15. My Will Oldham stack is getting think now too.First time listening to a full Yo La Tengo album. I'm digging this quite a bit so far. I definitely think @TenderLovingKiller® should pick this up!
I did enjoy my listen this morning. I’ve never been a big fan. This one is fun.I love the new Paramore album. I really wasn't sure how I'd feel cause the three singles were just fine. But This Is Why grew on me A TON. The other two are the weakest on the album, but they also work better in the album's context. As a whole, this is like a re-energized band and they all sound amazing. The guitar work and drumming is so so so good. I really fell in love with After Laughter and wouldn't have minded them continuing in that direction, but this one is much more like self titled to me (my second favorite). It's pop punk, but grown up a little bit. The fun is there, the viciousness is there, the ballads are fantastic. This is just a really great record.

Also, here's an unsolicited YLT playlist just in case your interest was piqued. They've been making albums for 38 years now so their discography can be a bit intimidating.
See I went in thinking that's how I would feel, so I was very surprised that I liked it as much as I did. I didn't even end up pre-ordering it, but I went and bought the vinyl this afternoon. I guess my low expectations were vastly exceeded. It's not going to be my favorite of theirs or anything, but it feels like just a fun very replayable album. I also think they sound truly great. The only angle that could use a bit more work is some of the lyrics, once you dive into them. Some of the songs just don't hold a lot of weight lyrically, but they work for the music so it doesn't bother me too much.I had really high hopes for Paramore. They were one of my favorite bands in high school and “After Laughter” showed me that the bands I like in the bad could still put out great music that live up to the standards current matt has. The lead single showed me that they are stilll an exciting band but I feel like the album as a whole is just ok. It’s at the standard they set with their discography pre After Laugher but I just want more from them now. I’ll keep going back to the album and hope it grows on me though
