Thanks for the reminder about Khotin! I love his work, and this new album is excellent.

And I'll just add two albums out today I'm looking forward to checking out not mentioned on the list above. Both are low-key contemplative indie rock offerings.

Runnner - like dying stars, we're reaching out
Steady Holiday - Newfound Oxygen

EDIT: holy moly, and a third album release by an amazing contemporary pianist! I had no idea she had an album coming out today!

Hania Rani - On Giacometti

Pretty sure this is of interest around here:

I'm spinning my vinyl copy right now. I know it won't likely gain much attention to non-fans of Animal Collective. But for what it's worth, this might be my favorite solo work from him since Down There (excluding Slasher Flicks cause that was like a side project band more than a solo album). I didn't give much attention to his last two and I couldn't even tell you what they sounded like. But this one is like a slightly easier psych pop album than he usually does. The looped rhythms are really nice and when it does get weirder, it still really works and never quite crosses into the off-putting sounds he's done before. I think the sounds he playing with here slightly call back to Time Skiffs from last year, but they're also their own thing in many ways. It's warmer, with a nice smooth blend of organic instruments and electronic oddities.

I'm going to guess you're referring to Avey Tare?

I enjoyed the Polobi album, but honestly need to spend some more time with it. The Orbital album is pretty good. Enjoyed Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs. The Jonnine album is worth a listen. The new Theo Crocker was interesting, probably should give it another go at some point.

dammit, I completely forgot about the Theo Crocker when I loaded up all this Jazz this evening oh well...

Really digging the Chris Potter. I didn't really like the Transmissions From Total Refreshment Centre comp thing.
