Finally caught up on the estate sale bonus tracks from Tyler The Creator's Call Me If You Get Lost. I wish it was even longer. These songs just enhance an already incredible album. I know the tracks are here to just sorta tide everyone over till the next project (don't think it will be this year), but they are stupidly good.

I like this Wednesday album, I'm betting it suffers from a stream to a bluetooth speaker, bet it sounds majestic in hi-res over a hi-fi... will need to give it a few listens, but may pull the trigger.

In a strong week of new music last week, this one stood out to me, kind of folksy and bluegrassy:

Ruston Kelly is using some effect on his voice that has shades of:

the Ruston Kelly (not content wise) sounds an awful lot like 90's contemporary christian music. Both the effects and the jangly pop direction of the album. Not sure how I feel about it, really gonna be whether or not it holds up lyrically.

• Lucinda Chua - Yian [one of my top10 for certain as of now. Bedazzling and restorative ambient pop]
• Katie Gately - Fawn/Brute [it wasn't immediate, but it was very rewarding. Sometimes art pop is like that]
• JPEGMAFIA x Danny Brown - Scaring the Hoes [excellent as was expected]
• Lankum - False Lankum [this is godtier PirateShipCore. I want more now. Listened to this in full on the weekend over some spirits and ascended]

• Black Country, New Road - Live at Bush Hall {live} [Tyler is the right choice as frontwoman. The songs are interesting enough, but never once come close to reaching the highs of Ants From Up There. They already have a high bar to clear]

Dude, completely agree with all of these I left above Caroline Rose was indeed a snoozer.. I'm really enjoying the BCNR live record and Tyler as the main vocalist. It's going to be interesting hearing how their sound evolves, but, as you said, the sextet has some huge shoes to fill. boygenius is a very solid 7.5/10 type album for me. After several listens, I really can't give it a higher rating than that at this time. It exactly met my expectations because it's the same formula the three have been using since 2018.
And the top four on your list are also my top 4 from the past two weeks!

Caroline Rose - The Art of Forgetting [BIG BORING]

I thought so too at first, but after listen 3 I'm on board. It's no Loner or Superstar but it's got some great songs. I do think it could use some editing and a couple of songs could be dropped to make it more digestible. 51 Minutes is daunting.

it'll probably grow on me but not much really stands out. Their first two had so many stand out songs. The whole thing feels very one note.

Standouts for me are Dandelion and Neptune! I also like Swim Back and To Rage.
