I also think the guitar is more to the background on this album compared to the first two. I miss it.Standouts for me are Dandelion and Neptune! I also like Swim Back and To Rage.

You mean Teens of Denial? Interesting. I think Teens of Denial was much larger in scope in some ways, but the parallel of a more under the radar band getting much more acclaim is there. It does feel like a potentially huge indie guitar rock album, which we haven’t quite heard since Teens of Denial. Or am I not thinking of something? This Wednesday album is reminding me a lot of Car Seat Headrest in their popularity rise from almost obscurity. Rat Saw God is their Teens of Style, and Twin Plagues is their Twin Fantasy. "Bull Believer" is "Vincent" and "Chosen to Deserve" is their "Drunk Drivers / Killer Whales"
I didn't stretch before this reach but just some thoughts while listening to this album and seeing the acclaim pour in today.
YES lol. I just edited. My mistake. I get those two confused because of the similar names. Teens of Denial. You mean Teens of Denial? Interesting. TBH, Wednesday weren’t on my radar at all until MJ’s solo album (which was one of my faves from last year). I need a bit more time to digest the new one but I preferred Boat Songs to both Wednesday’s prior releases so in that way it’s a bit different. This Wednesday album is reminding me a lot of Car Seat Headrest in their popularity rise from almost obscurity. So, what you're sayin' is I'm gonna love it.RIYL MJ Lenderman, Bonnie Prince Billy, Jason Molina and bands in that arena.
I actually meant to tag youSo, what you're sayin' is I'm gonna love it.
Hoping this one gets a vinyl release. Heard a rec on the Indiecast pod today and listened through a few times. RIYL MJ Lenderman, Bonnie Prince Billy, Jason Molina and bands in that arena.
I thought Smog too, especially that first full song.I am getting a bit of smog/Bill Callahan too his voice isn't as deep but it has a similar timbre. Maybe Smog crossed with Nick Drake. Regardless, Its quite good. Great recommendation.
Don't sleep on the new Desire Marea record, it is a JAM!!!
