New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

I might’ve added a touch more water than what it called for and am seeing similar stories about leakage due to that, but nothing about the machine just shutting down. Will see what the company says.
I think you would have to overflow into the air vents for something to go that haywire. Did you measure the water in the water tank or in the actual cleaning part with the dipstick?

Where’s the water leaking again? I’ve never had a leak except when I didn’t insert the tank all the way back in after decanting. @Melt Face Molly Drop can you post a video?
Both sides/corners of the very bottom area. I could hear water swishing around when I rocked it back and forth. I’ve contacted them and already have it packed up to send back. They’re waiting until I ship to send me a new one, which is annoying.

On that topic, I have a dumb question. I’m currently cleaning my first one. It drains the water out when drying, but do I need to pour that water back into the basin before each record? Or will it transfer it back over?
After the cycle is complete:
- remove the clean record
- remove the tank from the unit
- pour the water from the tank into the basin
- put the tank back into the unit
- put the next record in the basin
Now you can select a cycle and start the unit

I’m sorry you had this experience but I’m glad they’re replacing it without any fuss. I do wonder what went wrong though.

Thanks. They’ve gone radio silent on me since they said I could return it. Wonder if their support is off on weekends. Might just return it via Amazon. Just gotta decide if it’ll be worth reordering.

Here’s the video I sent them, in case you all notice something I’m not

It kind of looks like you aren't pushing the power button in far enough. Did you hear a click? I've done that before and it was just not pushing it in far enough. Not that you probably want to unbox it to check...

Edit: with sound on I can't tell. It still kinda does a little click, but it does look like you're holding it, so I can't tell. Could have just gotten wet inside, but if you were using the tank to fill even going a bit high shouldn't have caused the leakage. :-(

The button on the side clicks when pushed in, but should I be expecting a different kind of click?

Probably not. I think that's what it sounds like on mine. Sometimes it'll like half click but not all the way if I don't push in far enough. But I think it looked like you got it in yours. It was just an idea because I thought mine wasn't turning on for like a day or two until I realized I just hasn't pushed it in enough.

Happiness is finally, after 3.5 years, finishing cleaning my collection. I don't know the exact numbers but my rough maths suggests it's been about 2400 releases, 3300 pieces of vinyl, and about 5000 cycles of cleaning. Happy now to only need to do this every now and then - for new stuff (which I've cut back on enormously) or the odd reclean.

PS Last week, I fitted a new main PCB, mini PCB, and motor - sent free by HG. An easy fix as usual. Have to say, I feel like the motor isn't super robust - depends on a fairly flimsy piece of plastic - so happy to run it a little less intensively now.

PPS I have been a tiny bit tempted by a Degritter, wondering if it might help with some of my African discs. (Hugely expensive, I know, but I feel like I'm nearing saturation on the vinyl side, don't really want to upgrade my system, so I tried to justify it). The thing that really puts me off though is that I've just spent 3.5 years on and off cleaning records and really don't fancy going through all that again.

Main difference between the mki and mkii is software updatability offering more choices for operating parameters in the II. Otherwise they are pretty much the same thing. I have an unopened bottle of the original Degritter fluid if anyone wants to give it a try. Good stuff, better than, imo, the Audio Intelligent ultrasonic fluid that I bought a pint of. I liked the AI but found that it would show a little foam that the original Degritter fluid doesn’t. The new mkii fluid is promising.

So I finally moved and will have some space to use my Humminguru than I bought when they did their Kickastarter and is still unopened.
I'll take some time to read the last pages but if you guys can tell me how to take the most of this machine, I'll appreciate.

Did you get any cleaning fluid? It makes a big difference. Either HumminGuru’s own stuff or the G Sonic.

Basically but the dipstick in the machine, fill it with your water to the top line, add a couple of drops of the cleaning fluid and pick the auto clean dry setting. You may want to do a clean first before for a used or dirty record.

Once you’re done refill the basin from the water container, add the next record and continue.
