New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

Funny enough, I rethought the purchase - decided I didn't need the adapters (my RCM can still handle 7/10's). So, I emailed them and asked them if I could change it to just the regular machine within 10 minutes of my purchase. They emailed me back within minutes with an updated order confirmation email and another CS email saying no problem, refunding the difference, and thanking me for the support. Fast CS.

Did you happen to ask them why the shipping cost tripled from the kickstarter/preorders to now?

Ah, I'm really on the fence on this. Up till this morning, I was v much buying it. But I'm wondering if it's going to make a big difference to my African records given a lot of them are beaten up, I've got money issues just now due to a leaky roof, and I'm thinking if it's so popular they'll make more later on so I can pick it up then. FOMO is pretty strong though. A morning of dilemmas...
If the records are beaten up I personally don’t think this cleaner (or any cleaner) will do much for it. It is not a miracle worker. Scratches are scratches and bad pressings are bad pressings. From my experience so far, this machine does a fantastic job with records that have some surface noise due to dirt and pops and clicks. It helps reveal some more detail in the recordings of VG+ albums. It may incrementally improve your African records but not sure how big that difference would be. If that’s the only reason why you want it, I’d probably pass on it personally…or take one of those records somewhere to be ultrasonically cleaned and see if there’s any difference.

Quite a few of their Kickstarter updates mentioned issues with shipping. Right now they are only allowed to ship 10 packages a day to Europe and the UK. Between that and all the hits taken with COVID, not shocked that the shipping went up. Just didn’t expect it to be 3x!

This. I wouldn’t be surprised if, at this price point, local stores start buying these to offer inexpensive cleaning. Maybe one of your nearby shops will do so!

I think you're right - I might try some of them out in a ultrasonic cleaner first. Mine vary between G+ and VG+ so I reckon there's gains to be had, just not sure how much (very few are scratched, but a fair few are pretty dull).

And postage cut for Norway by more than half. But I think I've made my bed so will sleep in it...

I will definitely take a look at it again in the new year. Shipping and logistics into Canada right now is nuts. I will just keep trudging along with my Squeaky Clean. Unless @Turbo buys one then I will just break into his house and use it at night, a la NightMather.
have you tried it since they updated the shipping costs?
