If they maxed out the cap in their first year that would be a huge mistake, IMO. Look at how Vegas was able to weaponize their cap space their first few years. Having the flexibility to add guys like Mark Stone and Pietrangelo is huge.

Giordano brings a lot of experience and leadership on and off the ice. He was the Flames' captain. Sure he is older (38) and is no longer the Norris-caliber defenseman he was a few seasons ago but the guy can still play.I don’t get the Giordano pick. No offense but there are better options for the backend.
As much as I want to know who’s been selected, these leaks are ruini the excitement of the day.

Nothing is certain until it's official, of course. Rumors from good insiders at this point, that's all.
(although the only reason to fake out would be to entice the team you pick from to deal with you... if Seattle really wants a player, there's no real reason to fake out because nobody can do anything about it)
