Glad to know I am not the only person that owns a copy of this!

7:30 PM ㉗ NICK SNICK The Adventures of Pete & Pete - these are the Pete's I know and these are some cameos...
AND
11:00 PM ㉖ MTV Headbanger’s Ball - here to keep your metal heavy, heavy, heavy, heavy
PXL_20221105_115110661.jpg

As I am completely unfamiliar with both of these shows I checked the link provided and discovered that actor James Todd Smith who once was a rapper named LL Cool J and put out an album called "Bigger and Deffer" which I have a copy of, had made a cameo on said Pete program so I guess I'm dusting off this classic..
AND
The only thing I know about the Headbangers Ball is that it was a heavy metal show on MTV, being from Canada we didn't have MTV, we had Much Music and that had The Pepsi Power Hour which I also never watched!! The only reference I have of Headbangers Ball is a clip of Kurt Cobain in a ball gown being interviewed and it makes sense, you can't expect to be the Belle of the Ball in a flannel shirt and ripped jeans...

Play an album by a group with a lot of members (bonus points if they’re from San Francisco)

Counting Crows - August and Everything After

Seven members is above average (and the same number of people in the Tanner household before the twin boys were born), plus they’re from San Francisco

Possibly the greatest kids show that ever existed. The show was stacked with music guest cameos. Play an album on your KrebStar BassBuster 2000 that features on of those artists.

Juliana Hatfield - Only Everything

The lunch ladies at my school were nowhere as cool as Juliana Hatfield

11:00 PM ㉖ MTV Headbanger’s Ball

Play Some Metal ideally from the Headbanger’s Ball Era.

Guns N' Roses "Appetite For Destruction" (1987 Geffen; 2018 limited deluxe edition)
Pretty much the only option I have from this era. I know metal heads have pretty strong opinions about what's considered metal or not, but I don't give a flying fuck, which I think is pretty metal of me. Displaying the original album cover instead of the classic sleeve, which looks damn metaly too. So here we are. Welcome to the jungle.

Great White - ....Twice Shy

While not exactly metal, Great White had a number of videos that would have aired during Headbanger's Ball, especially this one:

*looks through lists of Pete & Pete guest stars* bro, how do I have NONE of these people in my vinyl collection?! I have Alicia & LL CDs, but nothing aside from that. …oh well.

Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger

I’m also not stacked with metal, especially hair-era metal, but thankfully I did have a few options there.

The Adventures of Pete & Pete was the perfect kids show it was funny, strange, surreal, heartfelt and nostalgic all at the same time. There isn’t many kids programs the I watch as a 40 year old adult that still holds up but Pet & Pete is endlessly rewatchable. Of the numerous music stars that guested on the show I am fairly certain to only ones that I realized a were music stars when I was originally watching as a pre-teen was Stipe and LL Cool J. Stipe was especially memorable as Captain Scrummy peddling his sludgcicles after Mr. Tastee and his blue tornado bars go missing. I wore the appropriate shirt for the occasion today…

Corrosion Of Conformity - Deliverance
5349D24A-88DE-44F7-AAC3-4596F2DD32CA.jpeg
Weekend nights growing up were always pretty awesome. My divorced single mom would usually go out with her girlfriends leaving me to watch my younger brothers and because she’d feel guilty we would usually get pizza and a movie or video game rental. After my brothers went to bed the TV was mine and it would usually land on MTV depending on the night that would mean either Yo! MTV Raps or Headbanger’s Ball these shows were great for a burgeoning music fiend as it was a way to discover and learn about music that wasn’t usually included in MTVs normal video rotation. While I wasn’t a huge Metalhead I did enjoy some harder music and it was a nice to see bands like Pantera and Corrosion of Conformity get some attention.

So this first thing that came to my mind was Prince Paul’s remix for Since I Left You. And here we are. Found on the 20th anniversary deluxe edition.
