October 2020 Challenge Thread: Let’s Get Weird

Day 7: Long Live Media Mail

The Bar-Kays - Cold Blooded

View attachment 69389

One of two records I got in my last VMP package last month, the other being Fiona Apple’s “When the Pawn” (which @feesrevenge already scooped up).
That should have been the ROTM in my opinion it’s so good. I cancelled Chet Baker and grabbed Coldblooded instead but the goofballs shipped them both .

Day 07: Long Live Media Mail
Spin the the most recent album delivered by your friendly postal carrier

It's a back to back repeat, but this is the most recent thing I got...

This showed up today. Included a DVD and split 45 by Ruston Kelly / Lumineers. Not the best Third Man Vault package from a material standpoint, but aurally she's a winner.

Day 06: Major Label Debut

After years of glam metal - the band made a change for the better on their major label debut.

Pantera ‎– Cowboys From Hell
ATCO Records/Rhino Records ‎– R1 91372, 1990/2010

Cut at The Mastering Lab
Pressed at Rainbo

Day 07: Long Live Media Mail

#RSD20 - I ordered this from LITA a long time ago - before RSD was moved to later in the year. Didn't really think I'd get it...but here it is. Arrived today.

Looks to be a legit release - compared to the GZ pressing that came out a few years back on an RSD.

池玲子 = Reiko Ike ‎– 恍惚の世界 (World of Ecstasy)
Teichiku Records ‎– TEA-12, 1971/2020

She's more known for the Japanese exploitation movies of the 70's

Day 08: Paul Hogan’s Birthday
In honor of Australia’ National Treasure spin a record from the land down under.

One of my favorite Australian exports. Saw them open for The Bangles in 1986 in a gymnasium at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC of all places.

It was glorious.

I got scooped!
Absolutely love the Gurus!
Should I play some other album of theirs or pick other Aussie artist? Decisions, decisions, decisions...
