Day 07: Long Live Media Mail

A.A.L. - 2017-2019

Seems to be expensive everywhere (the only local that had this priced it at $39.99). Ended up getting this in the mail from DeepDiscount for $30 with their occasionally recurring 15% discount code. Probably the best I could get it for. Best sounding electronic record in my collection by far; it is explosive. It's as if it was intentionally cut at 45RPM and ~8.5min a side to blast in a club.

This was the only Sept RSD Drop, my LRS did not get any copies but thanks to this forum I was able to find a copy at Joe’s Record Shop appropriately enough just down the road from Dino’s hometown of Amherst in Worcester MA.

Day 6 debut
Skid Row self titled
I know the phrases Hair Bands and Hair Metal get tossed around a lot these days , but I was around 11 or 12 when this one came out and to me me these guys were some of the baddest dudes around. Funny I was actually introduced to them along with Metallica, AC/DC, and GNR at my church There were a few Metalhead friends in my youth group.

Listening to that Cypress Hill album reminds that they were one of the 1st concerts I ever went to . Rage Against the machine came on 1st followed by House of Pain. Back then stage diving was a thing . I remember jumping on stage and doing that dumb chicken dance that Sen Dog used to do. He literally kicked me square in the back I flew off the stage and everyone moved out the way so I fell hard. My back still clicks when it rains but it was a great show.

Day 05: Dig Them Horns

Since woodwinds are also acceptable, I picked this interesting band that uses a saxophone instead of a lead guitar.

De La Soul - Stakes Is High

Finally completed my De La album discography This is the 2 LP original UK pressing. Mailperson dropped off the heat yesterday.

This was the album where Prince Paul & De La split, and when De La became grumpy “get off my lawn” rap elders. Outside of a couple of songs, I used to be pretty indifferent about this album. Not sure if it’s because I’m getting older and grumpier too now, but my enjoyment of this album has steadily increased since then. Obviously, the title track with the Dilla production is the centerpiece, but “Itzsoweezee” and “Sunshine” are great too, and the rest of the album is pretty consistently good.
