The Hendrix family pressings are among the best deals of all reissues. They are almost all AAA and many are pressed at QRP and typically are around $20.

With all this talking about Hendrix reissues, I started playing Are You Experienced this morning. I barely can't hear Hendrix voice on Purple Haze. Is it the same with all copies or is my copy defective? C

I don’t remember that at all but I’ll try to double check. Do you have the Hendrix Family pressing? There are also a bunch of different pressings and reissues. Wondering if there’s a European vs US pressing issue going on too?

Definitely. It's really strange because I only have this issue with the first song. The others (at lease side A) sound perfectly right.
Just listened to it. Jimi's voice on Purple Haze is hard panned to the right channel on the stereo recording--so maybe something is going with that on your copy? Mine sounds great and doesn't sound quiet or muffled at all.

Got mine yesterday and opened it up to find what looks like cat hair in the inner sleeve. Kind of a nice bonus! Any idea which pressing this is?

Edit: strike that, I’m talking about Electric Ladyland, I’ll figure it out

Might be my copy then. The other songs are ok, it's like they mixed Purple Haze far behind the other instruments. Sounds almost like an instrumental. Really weird.

Hendrix - Electric Ladyland - $17.76

I think this is the AAA QRP pressed version that was put out by Hendrix Family. They are already really nicely priced and awesome quality but $17.76 is even lower than usual if anybody was lookin out for this!
Electric Ladyland is down to $17.19, so I ordered it this morning. I'm listening to my dad's old 1968 Reprise pressing right now, it sounds damn good, so I'm looking forward to comparing the two. 1983... (A Merman I Should Turn To Be) is probably my favorite Jimi song.
