Dang, Great minds. I was gonna play a “ Ditch Trilogy” album today too (still might just not as part of the challenges thread).

The Beach Boys - SMiLE

The Beach Boys SMiLE might be the most famous “lost” album of all time. The first official release of this gem didn’t occur until 2011 but by then it had been leaked and bootlegged for decades. The album backs up the myths and legends by being an idiosyncratic masterpiece that could have only come from the brilliant mind of Brian Wilson.
 
Been thinking about what I would play today. Would it be another Bowie album or a Stones record. But then I decided that its Friday and I wanna Rock.

The Who - Who's Next
I don't think there is a more ROCK album in existence. I won't go into detail on the story of making the record. Basically Pete Townsend suffered a nervous breakdown trying to create a follow-up rock opera/film (to be called Lifehouse) to their first successful rock opera Tommy. The Lifehouse rock opera was abandoned but the songs remained. The band recorded them and what you have is an album that is so ROCK that you could chisel it with tools.

U2 recorded some of Achtung Baby at Hansa Studios, and this album def has a mythology of its own. My all time fave record, ever. I own multiple pressings, box sets etc. This is the 30th Anniversary edition.

I don't collect POPs, but when these were announced, I knew I was about to start. I also own the Pearl Jam Halloween Zombie set, the regular Pearl Jam set and have the Soundgarden ones on pre-order. Now, if they'd just release The National POPs, I'd be done!
