Phono Cartridges - Your favorites and least favorites?

Suspended but not with springs. It's interesting but I would definitely wait until they release Forever Model 2, just to see what the price gap is and if they offer a type of 1.5 package that will maybe be a One with the arm or platter from the Two.
The new Forever tonearm is just a trick. They really want to sell you a Model 2 with a Fatboy arm, but they need to amortize the development cost of this new S-shaped arm so they can sell it on less expensive tables.

I was aghast to see the 9” Cliffwood yoke gimbal arm on the $2500 Shinola Runwell, but they had nothing else in the stable at the time.

Yoke gimbal - that’s some real turntable nerd talk there. Wait - is this not the VPI thread?

*shuffles away*

I mean it’s not a trick. It’s the whole pitch of the forever series. The whole idea is that every part will be modular and upgradable. In the introduction presentation Weisfield talks about VPI even being willing to have custom armboards made for arms from other manufacturers.

They are absolutely not saying the new S tone arm is the new best thing. They said they wanted a Jelco arm, but they are out of business and all the other clones were too expensive, so they made their own.

Dammit - they should have just bought the Jelco designs and figured out new tooling. Would have loved to see VPI take up the mantle and …

Is this STILL not the VPI thread?

Goldy!

There - at least I mentioned a cartridge this time.

In the realm of VPI and cartridges, they also mentioned removable head shells coming at some point.

Haha. I'll continue to treat this as the VPI thread - let's goooo!

For me the tough thing is I'm big on cost to performance. I think I've said it before, but I got Turntable Lab's demo Cliffwood from their old 10th St showroom, at what today would be considered an absolute theft, so when I'm looking at like 8x that cost on other tables, it's gotta check off every single box for me.

Another thing is system synergy and an appropriate deck for the setup - unplaced RP-600Ms in an untreated room where I hear the different response of each speaker based on the room's response, I'm far from chasing sonic perfcection here. I just wanna run my lil Decware at like 75% volume and bob my head. It's happening.
