Political Discussion

Got an update on this on the local news this morning. So, it's teachers union that's being fined, not the teachers individually. The teachers union in Beverly and Gloucester have now been fined $50,000 as teachers are still on strike and will be fined an additional $10,000 per every day the strike continues.

In Marblehead, the courts have yet to rule on the strike as Marble head was a couple days behind Beverly and Gloucester in taking the teachers unions to work.

Neither side has budged on their stance so far.

Parents are angry and also filing their own lawsuits in court against the teachers union and school districts.

Interviews with parents anger me, it's like they think of teachers as glorified babysitters. And they are angry that the teachers unions would use kids as leverage.

Whether it's NBC10 Boston, Fox 25 Boston or CBS Boston, any posts on this topic on social media overwhelmingly have trolls or mega people responding in the comments section. If you listen to them, teaching isn't a real job and doesn't deserve higher pay. If they want higher pay, they should get a job, like construction where they actually work hard.

Teaching isn't a real job to them because they probably spent half their time in school skipping class or bulying kids.

Why did the onion buy infowars? Other than it’s just funny?

Did they? Or was that just the Onion being the Onion.

I saw this article that the Onion was up for auction yesterday, but didn't see anything about the Onion.

Edit: it looks like they did. I saw this in the related stories of the above article just now:

Why isn't this on the home page like the first story.

That very well could be true. I was thinking more along the lines of they consider teaching a skill less jobs that doesn't require any manual labor.

But that is not true at all. You do need skills, just not traditional trade skills. And that doesn't make the work any easier. One of the reasons for this strike is teachers are being over worked due to large class sizes and getting burnout. Turnover is high.
