Political Discussion

Georgia constiution has it that recounts can be called when the lead is within half a percent. Considering I spent all day yesterday watching the lead chip away 1000 votes at a time I see it as inevitable, wondering if the're going to start that today or what.

Even so, why would ballots received on Election Day itself be included in the ballots that could potentially be invalidated by the legal challenge? Why are those ballots being segregated along with the ballots received after election day.
They are setting aside those ballots. They are not mixed in the other ballots received on or before Election Day. PA is essentially treating them as provisional ballots, there should not too many of these. Also the legal challenge for this was already made prior to the election and the SCOTUS already ruled in favor of the State. PA is afraid that it may be challenged again though so they making sure to take extra precaution just in case. Again, there likely are going to be enough of these ballots to ultimately matter.

In GA the military ballots still need to be counted.

This has the republicans saying hold on a minute. This should move things back in Trump's favor. Chuck Todd says no. Polls shows that the military is just as divided as the rest of America.

Currently Biden is ahead by 1,000. They are projecting him to be ahead by 3,000 when all is said and done counting the mail in ballots. Trump would literally need to take all the military ballots to take the lead back. It's a very narrow path.
Military ballots have been counted. They just have additional time to send in their ballots. There are approximately 8,000 that have not yet been returned they have to be returned by today (Friday) to be counted. Most will not be returned.

I get the ones received after election day

But the Lt Governor said ballots received on election day were put aside as well. My question was about the ballots received on election day.

NYT is reporting GA is done counting (other than possible military/overseas provisionals and potential cured ballots).

+1,579 Biden.

A little under my calculation from yesterday, but I think that's because there was one county that had a 51-49% split towards DT with their mail-ins.

NYT is now reporting that there could still be 4,000 votes to be counted in GA plus the military/overseas votes. I'm not sure if those are the provisionals.

EDIT: Nate Silver is also reporting as of 15 minutes ago that there are some absentees still to be counted too, including several thousand in Gwinnitt. So Biden should expand the lead some.

Get their ass

Seriously read the whole thread. A much better and more detailed job of an argument I’ve been trying to make to people IRL over the last couple days.

Coming back to this because seriously everyone should read this thread, but there‘s an important point in here that I expect to be fully glossed-over if not outright memory-holed during the intra-Dem wars to come...the DCCC blacklisted a lot of organizations that backed progressives in the primaries, organizations that could have been very useful for turnout purposes in the general. Keep this in mind as you hear centrist Dems whining about the damage The Left did to them in this election.

8,000 military counts in Georgia?
Crazy, that’s just one Urban Outfitters limited vinyl run of 2,000.

That's how many they sent out...some may have already been counted...what would be counted is what they got after election day...so probably not that many. And not everyone mails them back.
