Political Discussion

I 100% agree with you on that.

For democrats, their base does not like change. The boomers and older democrats very much like the status quo. They don't want to see reform. They have their wealth and want things to be predictable. What they have always known. They hold strong with their views. And to them progressives are just as bad as republicans. They won't cross that line.

And Progressives are jaded settling for a centralist. Nothing they stand for ever gets done. No real change happens. All they see is the generation before stealing from them for their own benefit in short term policies.
Yup. I voted for Biden because Trump is Trump and because of climate change.

But I hate Feinstein, Schumer and all the centrist fucks more than I hate Mitch. Because they are the reason we are where we at as it pertains to things like economic inequality and climate change but act like they are on my side.

their job is to maintain the status quo and most people under the age of 40 see that clearly.

I hate them too. Even Nancy Pelosi. It's time they all retire.

And I really despise Biden. Biden was a major player in what created the student loan debt crisis and protecting the lenders by reforming bankruptcy so that student loans can't be discharged.

Not to mention all the "tough on crime" stuff in the 90s.

Serious question....doesn't each state print its own ballots and does the Department of Homeland Security even have any jurisdiction on elections?
Every State has their own unique ballot. I would assume there are states that use the same company to produce their ballots and thus would be similar but it is not uniform. The DHS doesn’t have jurisdiction States run the election however DHS has jurisdiction in federal facilities so if they are counting ballots in Federal Facilities they could do some shit but I don’t think would be the norm especially in larger municipalities.

The type of ballots can differ within the state as well.

For example, in MA there are voting districts that still use 100+ year old voting methods. The small rural town my mother lives in has an old fashioned ballot that you place and run through a wooden box with a hand crank.

Very different than the ballots in larger communities who have updated their election equipment more recently.

Granted, all the Mail In Ballots this year were universally the same. This just pertains to in person voting day of. But there are different times of ballots depending on your voting district and the equipment they use here in MA. There is no statewide standard.

I mean I love you guys but before progressive ideas can take hold, we’re gonna have to figure out this whole “your side wants to ruin the country” atmosphere to civil discourse, because as many have noted here... most of the country is actually centrist and doesn’t understand that they pretty much all want the same thing but have been pitted against each other. Until that rhetoric is squashed a progressive may get elected but isn’t gonna be able to get anything done.
I think you're right. By and large, everyone on this forum is nice, and the discourse is fair, but all of the right-wing posters felt they had to leave. There definitely has to be a way to calm everything down, then the future can be looked at.

I love how the Dems only stole the election for Biden but let Lindsay Graham and Joni Ernst slide. Stooopid Dems don’t even cheat good!
I mean, you are taking about the party that pushed 3 million fraudulent ballots through California to run up the popular vote score while losing the EC by 70,000 votes in the Midwest in 2016, so we’re not talking about geniuses here.

So how did they watermark ballots cast on an electronic machines? I mean, I didn't expect a conspiracy of this nature to think about all the variables first.

I feel like the key to unity lies in getting poor people to realize it's been class warfare all along.

I honestly liked what I saw in the GA senate elections. 5+ candidates from each party plus third party candidates—now with both races likely in runoffs. For any real change to the two-party rule and strict ass platforms that alienate people on both sides, I think it would be beneficial to run bipartisan primaries with multiple candidates who can each mold their platforms and allow people to align behind someone for their character, record and more nuanced stances, then run off the top few performers.

At the very least, it can help (or force) the main parties to better adjust platforms to better fit what constituents really want to see and adapt as time changes. Right now it's all minor posturing adjustments focused on squeaking past the opposition instead of rallying meaningfully behind real causes. I honestly believe much of what the AOC and Bernie camps bring to the table policywise could have wider bipartisan reach if given the breathing room they need.

I did a deeper dive on Twitter, for what it's worth. When person A remarks that the DHS doesn't print the ballots, person B replies that they do supply the paper to each state for the ballot printing. Check mate!

This is it. Working classes voters. Its literally always been about working class voters. Where do they go? Who is going to support them?

This. We can’t continue to let hillbillies claim the American Flag and Patriotism as a party ideal. The working class rural folk might not have money but they have PRIDE, and that’s a powerful driving factor at the polls.

I work for the DHS (Coast Guard). I just checked the printer paper we got into our office last week with a black light and I’ll be damned! They really did it!
