Political Discussion

Not good at all.

Joe Manchin is a coward. He doesn't want things to be so divided, so he is leaning towards not supporting any policy that divides us. This includes eliminating the filibuster. This would essentially hand republicans a victory and eliminate most everything from Joe Biden's agenda. And I guarantee when the republicans hold the power again, they won't return the favor. They will push their will through as they always do.

Joe Manchin benefits in every way from political divisiveness. Not collaborating and cooperating, or not doing so in good faith, is how you keep the status quo. West Virginia is a beautiful state and one of the poorest because Joe Manchin would rather maintain the status quo, get paid to do nothing and attend Massey Coal fundraisers, while the people of Appalachia die younger and younger.... not that Biden's agenda was going to do anything about that either.

Edit: This is also how you get concessions from other senators and direct federal spending to your state - sadly. Joe is sitting pretty because he;s right in the middle of the red team and the blue team and they both want him to play shortstop.

Maybe I am getting old, I could swear "cancel culture" has been around a long, long, time.............it was just called being held accountable for your actions and society seeing you for who you are, and then not paying attention to you anymore. So, call it what you want, you should still be behind bars.

I believe they started to call it cancel culture when you didn't just go away quietly. The media started reporting on the actions took to hold you accountable. Also, this means it's harder to brush things under the rug. You are less likely to get away with something if it's being reported on and there are expectations to hold you accountable.

Meet the Californians moving to Texas for political reasons

So many people are moving to Texas during the pandemic, the housing market can hardly keep up. Many say they want less Covid-19 restrictions and a safe space for their politics.

What is everyone's take on this? I find it a interesting story with a lot of great information. And really shows the divide people have when it comes to politics.

Most of the people who are moving from California to Texas are Republicans. And like growing trends, they are moving to areas with people who share the same political beliefs as them.

California's COVID restrictions is what is driving the mass exodus of Republicans to to Texas. These people don't like the government being involved with their every day lives. They want less government, no restrictions and the freedom to do whatever they want when they want.

Living in Georgia is like riding a roller coaster, one day we're proudly blue, the next we're choking out the ability to vote. I love my friends here, I hate the humidity. I love the food here, I hate the politics. I love the cost of living here, I hate the pollen. I just want to live where I can go to the gun range with my married gay friends and legally buy some edibles afterward. Is that too much to ask?

Same with Texas, minus the edibles. I grew up here so I'm partial a lot to it even though I shouldn't be. Dallas is pretty blue. The rest of the state is very red. Hate the politics at the state level. I hate the Texan bravado. Cost of living is great. Cost of housing has gone to hell because of all of the influx. We couldn't leave this house and find a new one if we wanted to right now. Weather is great from October to November and March to May. Summer is terrible. Winter is terrible because it's up and down every day but never cold enough to have you invest in the appropriate winter gear. Oh and you all know how we did when we had a freak snowstorm recently. But my family is here, my elderly widowed mother is here who can't function without me, and the schools our kids go to are pretty good. After the last one graduates in 6 years, we're hopefully out to a different state.

Oh we can buy edibles here legally either. That's just what I want for us.

My wife is 100% down to move, but that would mean me finding a new job and us taking a huge lifestyle hit. It terrifies me to think I may not be able to give my wife the comfort we have now. So we stay and put up with it.

Bille Holiday wrote a song about cancel culture. Some would say it’s her most famous song.

Breaking News. Many details still to come

Wasn’t a mass shooting, but damned if the media (and anyone else with an agenda) isn’t all fired up and itching to report them. Once again in the rush to be first, it was simply a rush to be wrong.

UPDATE: TBI says Austin-East student killed in officer-involved shooting at Knoxville school

It’s a tragic situation to be sure, but it wasn’t what some were hoping it to be.
