Political Discussion

This is interesting. Juleanna Glover disusses the possibility to do the impeachment trial by secret ballot in the senate ( which senate could vote on by single majority, i.e. 3 gop senators voting for it)

In won't happen. Every Republican Congress and Senator not named Mitt Romney carry water for the President.

Agree. A vote for the secret ballot will by default be viewed as a vote against the president. That person's career in Republican politics, lobbying, think tanks, FOX News gigs, etc., will be over. If senators are scared to even criticize the president, they'll certainly not go on the record requesting the opportunity to secretly vote against him.
You all could have at least let me live in a fantastic utopia dream land for a few more hours! Sheesh. ;)

As mentioned in the text there are a bunch of 70+ senators who already announced retirement. If there are indeed gop senators who would vote against trump in a secret ballot, the outgoing senators might take the fall for them.
But generally i am not sure if tge whole thing would be good. Impeaching trump on a secret ballot would be oil on the fire for every conspiracy theorist, deep state believer and nutjob and would only further the divide. the way to get rid of trump is in the elections and if the american people vote him for another 4 years after witnessing him in the first four, they really earned him, as hard as it sounds.

Completely agree with your latter points.

Regarding the retiring senators, I just haven’t seen any evidence that any of them will exhibit a spine or a conscience for as long as they hold office. I’d like to think that leaving office and having nothing to lose means you can finally do the right thing, but if the past few years are any precedent, that just really doesn’t seem to be the case.

The thing is once they leave office they make even more money. They loose those opportunities if they speak out.

Well shit.

Mr. Robot regularly utilizes Obama framed through the plot mechanisms of that show. Little snippet of a real speech here, little snippet of off screen Obama VO reacting to something that happened in the show there. And it sells EXTREMELY well. I think that's when I realized how easy it would be to create an alt-right video. (Also if you haven't watched, Mr. Robot than you should fix that- it's now on Prime).

But a lot of these people are so dumb you don't even need a well done video. I've had dolts on FB hand me a video where Obama admits he is Kenyan and it was the most obviously doctored thing I've practically ever seen. Similarly, they've been doing this to AOC for several years now. Awhile back there was a huge uproar about her messing up the branches of the government during a live stream. But when I watched it, the video stutters/glitches/pauses during the exact sentence or two that had everyone flipping out. As I video editor, it was obvious to me that they had glitched out the video in a way that made it seem like faulty internet and then added a couple of sentences from a different speech. And yet, that shit went fucking viral via memes and angry facebook posts, exc, exc.

I don't understand this one bit. Are you suggesting you'd imagined if there would be a school shooting in your town that you would have been the shooter?

I live about 6 miles away from where the shooting happened. We go to the grocery store and some restaurants in that area. We don’t know anyone directly involved in the shooting. Yet I feel a little on edge about my surroundings and worried about how it will change the community.

I was at work outside of the valley we live in, when It happened. I usually don’t pay much attention to these stories, but at work I was distracted finding out information about what happened.

The closer it is to home, the more real it is. Unfortunately, for Washington to actually do something, one of the politician’s kids is gonna have to die.

I honestly think that says all you need to say about the current state of our country.

It feels strange to have a school shooting in your town, when you are not directly involved.

Glad you and your loved ones are safe. I grew up in the Suburban town next to Columbine and was in 6th grade when that shooting happened. They put my school under lock down. Had us hiding under computer desks. And then for the rest of the school year, the doors would lock at the start of each period and you'd be locked out if you weren't there in time.

It's crazy to think that school shooting were earth shattering, unthinkable thing back then.

It’s more crazy to think they aren’t now.
