He was a vocal a Trump supporter during the last election cycle, at least since 2016. He pissed off a lot of his close friends and mentors, mostly because he was raised around gay people and mixed race people. He became radicalized during his college years at Penn State.

His wife and he are so-called Christians, they had a church wedding, wouldn't live together until they were married, she has a cross tattooed on her back... horrible racist scumbags, these folks.

If there was someone with red flags that you wouldn't be surprised to see in the national news for being part of something even more awful, this is him. I'm glad these reporters dug up this info and made it known, but I am so sad to learn that we have known him since he was a baby. I read Christmas stories to him & the other kids every Christmas eve. I went to his Eagle Scout ceremony. In fact, I have contacted a friend who sits on Eagle Scout review boards and he's going up the line to see if Vinnie can be stripped of his Eagle award.

I went to Bloomsburg University for 3 years and still have a friend that lives in Danville. That area is very homogenous. I could understand why people head this way. My friend who lives there runs an art gallery so he and his kids kind of stick out. They have been to marches and such.

Penn State is another issue. That school needs to be cleaned up. The partying that goes on at that school is horrible. I wood never send my kid there.
 
Just read an article that says it looks as though the Supreme Court is going to overturn Miranda. This is going to empower even crueler policing in the United States and if it wasn't already clear from the many embassies that warn their citizens on travel to the US, there are a lot of places that it would be best to avoid in this country. Sadly this goes especially for non-White people.

Biden really does seem to be doing absolutely nothing to subvert the rise of fascism here. Even if by some fluke the January 6th commission actually convinces Garland to pursue criminal charges, there are so many waiting for Trump to fall so that they can push that agenda even further. Looking at DeSantis... And Kemp... And about a dozen others who have too much power, fame, and financial backing.

When Musk said this week that he would vote for DeSantis in 2024, I knew that the young, angry, white, male problem was going to get even worse this next go around.

Elon Musk, SpaceX and Tesla Inc. were sued for $258 billion over claims they are part of a racketeering scheme to back the cryptocurrency Dogecoin.

Keith Johnson, “an American citizen who was defrauded out of money by defendants’ Dogecoin Crypto Pyramid Scheme,” sued Musk and his companies, claiming they constitute an illegal racketeering enterprise to inflate Dogecoin’s price.

“Defendants falsely and deceptively claim that Dogecoin is a legitimate investment when it has no value at all,” Johnson said in his complaint, filed Thursday in federal court in Manhattan.

Johnson is seeking to represent a class of people who have lost money trading in Dogecoin since April 2019. He is asking for $86 billion in damages, plus triple damages of $172 billion, as well as an order blocking Musk and the companies from promoting Dogecoin, and declaring that Dogecoin trading constitutes gambling under US and New York law.

MBTA to reduce Red, Orange and Blue Line service starting Monday

Not a good look for public transportation when service has to be reduced to Saturday levels weekdays through the summer due to having a staffing shortage of dispatchers. The feds called out the dispatchers shortage earlier this week after investigating the MBTA after several recent accidents.

That's where I went, too; 1983-1988. Not a fan of that area at all.

I will say the irony of Vinnie Cucchiara is he's olive-skinned with a large nose, and in no way does he look "white."
 
Kevin Rinke is running for Michigan governor and is already running (ridiculous) ads.
Unfortunately we'll probably all see a lot of this here in the states...

Something similar happened to my wife - guy in her year at school that was part of her wider friendship group got outed in a big tv and press investigation into neo nazi groups in Australia. Videos of him, and all that stuff.

Apparently he was a bit of an edgelord, so some weren’t surprised, but I think it hit a few folk hard.

We got a notice because our school district was receiving free school lunches and they are not providing free lunches next year. This wouldn’t be all that upsetting to me if I didn’t see a well dressed, clean man with his wife ( also dressed nicely) and their young children were at a stop sign at a busy intersection in the neighborhood adjacent to mine. He had a sign that said “No money, No food, No diapers, God Bless.” Two of my kids were with me and the youngest started repeating the words on the sign.

It looks like this family walked from their house (and these are the houses that are bigger than mine) and went to the stop sign to ask for money. The kids’ hair was done with a big bow. It broke my heart.
