Yes! That too! I normally don't get that usage in papers too much, but it probably is the most common one, lolCapital I thought was a city the government resides in? So Capitol refers to the the building. Interesting.

In American English, it's the building that governments meet in to conduct official state/federal business, or capitalized it's specifically the building in DC. Opposed to the capitalization of a letter or the economic coagulation of value.
Might be other uses I'm not remembering?
Since I'm a political economist they both get used in papers I assign frequently and by students often incorrectly.
Principle vs principal - that one gets a lot of people too.It bugs me too! And I've corrected both in so many papers. But I swear I can't write without typos in everything on my phone. The other common one that I see frequently is capitol vs capital...
They act like it isn't people who they're planning to sacrifice so that the wealthy can keep hoarding wealth and not pay taxes. This literally makes me sick to my stomach. A wave of unionization and workers fighting back and they blame the effects of their greed on the poor and do everything they can to crush them again.
On Elon Musk:
I wanna preface this by saying I know what I'm about to joke about is not true, and he's just a rich entitled tool that has no business (metaphorically) sticking his nose into politics.
But a friend and I were talking about Musk and his downward spiral into right wing BS and how it feels like he's setting himself up to get into politics. Like he's putting out feelers and building a base in order to take some of that political power for himself, not just stir the pot, but to actually get into the pot. And then we wondered, what if he's playing 3D chess? What if he's building this proven militantly loyal, rabid fan base in order to infiltrate the system, put himself in a position where he can make change and then flip the script on these yahoos?
Not what's happening, but man, that would be neat.
Irony, thy name is the Supreme Court. Ruling that Maine can't discriminate and withhold tax dollars from religious schools that openly admit to discriminating against potential LGBTQ and non religious students.
Shit is getting real today..and even more awful.
99% certain naturalized citizens can’t ever run for POTUS (odd considering certain natural born ’zens have no problem selling the country out). They can however run for office in congress.I mean it’s not really that far fetched, people believe in much stranger shit. However, how long do you have to be a citizen to run for president? Or is it never, maybe there is something about lower offices, but I can see him settling for being a senator. That would be a big blow to his ego.
The lengths then will stretch the first amendment is getting ridiculous. Do states rights exist or is it only the ones they decide count. Dissolve the whole scotus please!Irony, thy name is the Supreme Court. Considering the silence that comes when he's asked to do anything to help anyone with his already-considerable wealth (which goes in hand with political power), I doubt he's coming out as transphobic and "pro free speech" to evince any positive change. And if he were merely doing this to eventually pull a gotcha moment to suddenly turn and say "and see how easy it is to radicalize people in the internet age?", I'd be surprised; though he's tricked a lot of people into thinking he's a "thinking guy," he's not exactly keen on actually spreading knowledge. On Elon Musk:

Fur sure. Dude is high on his own supply.Considering the silence that comes when he's asked to do anything to help anyone with his already-considerable wealth (which goes in hand with political power), I doubt he's coming out as transphobic and "pro free speech" to evince any positive change. I think he just likes the attention and people telling him he's right/funny/cool. Which makes it even more terrifying, because the last six years have taught me people will fall for that shit.
Why are religious school getting tax dollars anyway?
I think all religious affiliated schools here in the states are private.Do you have the weird duality of schools being able to be both denominational and state schools? For example, I went to a Roman Catholic state primary and secondary school in England.
Here's the deal with Narcissists, they are really bad at long term planning. On Elon Musk:

Ah fair enough! One of my strongest political aspirations is to end private education.
I wish. Meanwhile we're backsliding into theocratic authoritarianism.
