Political Discussion

Yeah he was slaughtered in PMQs yesterday and even Zahawi went public this morning. His last vainglorious play, which he supposedly was considering yesterday, would be to call a General Election but if the Queen was to refuse on grounds that there is a formable government he’d be in an unprecedented position.

My favourite quip from PMQs yesterday was “the sinking ship is deserting the rat”

This is a peak backhanded British insult.

A pregnant women got pulled over and issued a citation for driving in the HOV without having a passenger. She insisted to the officers that she had a passenger, her unborn baby, That the law says life now starts at fertilization and therefor her unborn baby should count as a passenger, the same as a born baby.

The officers dismissed her, rolled their eyes and issues the citation. She is now taking the ticket to court to challenge that her unborn baby is legally a passenger and that she should not have been issued the ticket.

This one's rich...

Brett Kavanaugh was recently out to dinner at a steakhouse. Peaceful protesters were outside holding signs protesting the overturning of Roe v Wade. They were not bothering Brett Kavanaugh, nor were they visible to him and if his security didn't tell them they were there he wouldn't have known while eating dinner.

HIs security, which congress approved to protest SCOTUS justices broke up the protest and send them on their way. Those asserting their 1st amendment rights and that this is wrong had their hands zip tied and were temporarily detained before being released with no charges.

Of course Brett Kavanaugh plays the victim in this.

Fox News is making a big deal out of this and that Brett Kavanaugh has a reasonable expectation to privacy and that he should be able to go out and have dinner without being harassed. That the liberals one even let Brett Kavanaugh have a moment of privacy to get dinner at a restaurant.

To many conservatives, those protesters are "extremists" and they completely agree with their removal. That the protests are completely unreasonable and a violation of Brett Kavanaugh privacy rights.

Fox News had Pete Buttigieg on air asking him about this, well trying to trip him up constantly into saying that it's not right for the protesters to harass people. But Pete Buttigieg held strong, and didn't falter and left the Fox News ander speechless with his response. Rather than falling for the "how would you like if protesters did this to you" questions he said it how it is. Public people have a right to be free of violence or harassment, but they do not have the right to be free of peaceful protests or criticism. That's part of the public life and Brett Kavanaugh needs to suck it up and stop whining about it. What was done to those peaceful protesters was a violation of their first amendment rights.

Pete Buttigieg also said something about the irony of privacy after Brett Kavanaugh voted against privacy rights for women.

One of those cases where the point they're making is not the point they think they're making:

Yeah -- the police shoot a lot more people than we know about. Thanks for pointing out that we should be ramping up our criticism of them.
Selfawarewolves is probably one of my favourite yet frustrating subreddits. It's like... you're almost there, bud... just keep thinking about it for like, a few more minutes.

That article also fails to point out that systemic racism have left black people disadvantaged, fewer opportunities and less wealth. The inequality leads to more crime. Simply put, they grew up in rough areas and in a lot of cases fall into gangs, crime and drugs to survive.

The crime rate is not hire because they are black. That article is like they are deserving of the police shootings due to their higher likelihood to commit crime. It's maddening.

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- New York City launched a nuclear attack preparedness public service announcement on Monday, saying it’s best to be prepared even if such a strike is unlikely.

Did the doomsday clock just get closer to midnight? I feel like we are back in the cold war.

I know next to nothing about Japanese politics but this man seemed like a really decent man.
Not bad for a fascist from a family of gangsters and war criminals 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don't like this sort of thing at all. It just legitimizes the forced birth viewpoint.

Welcome to the 'Summer of Rage'

Headed to the Decision Day march in New Orleans today. Its going to be held at the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. So if I wind up on the news, you'll know why.

Time to Trade in my 'Fuck Ted Cruz' shirt for a 'WTF Jon Edwards' shirt. That or a shirt with a taco on it. Either way

They are really ramping up the anti-Iran rhetoric today. 6 of the top 8 posts on Yahoo world news were all war mongering against Iran just now. But saw this and sadly my first thought was that a lot of Americans probably have some notes for them on this topic.

Also Texas just warned 26 million people that blackouts are likely coming because they still haven't fixed their power grid.
