And so it begins…

Not surprised by Facebook’s actions, but imagine in the state of Nebraska actually spent its time doing things to enrich the lives of its citizens vs trying to jail them over non-sense like this. 😩

:sick::sick::sick::sick:😤😤😤😤

This is sickening.

The FBI office was literally across the street from my old apartment complex.

Had a feeling something like this was going to happen somewhere after the raid.

Can't say I'm surprised either.

Especially after Trump's base was only angered by this and several republican lawmakers yesterday vowed "revenge".

Also, I can't say I'm surprised that Trump's deflection is once again Hunter Biden's laptop.

The thing is considering Hunter Biden, if he committed any crimes, I’m sure everyone here would say he needs to be held accountable. Trumpers believe only democrats should be held to account.

I'm unsurprised as well. And Hunter Biden DOES need to be looked into, because he's guilty.

The problem here is perception. The FBI gets called out to investigate Trump, while very few people in the federal government are lifting a finger to point at Hunter Biden even though he is currently being investigated on federal human trafficking charges--and that's not even the tip of the iceberg. I know I might be in the minority here, but it does look like the government is being two faced and the media seems complicit in it. Very little is being said about him in the US media, which is only backing up this idea that certain people at the top are "untouchable" and institutions that Americans should be able to trust, are covering up misdeeds of the wealthy and powerful. I realize that this isn't a new thing, but it's getting harder and harder to say that our government isn't corrupt and serves an elite minority--and there are republicans and democrats in this minority (cough Nancy Pelosi's husband cough), it just depends on who you know and how you play the game.

Just got a random email from Quora Digest with a discussion about about job loss and the lack of support our system provides.

A guy, nearing the age of retirement was laid off. At his age he doesn't know what he's going to do next, not quite eligible for Security yet and fears he won't be able to get a good paying job at his age. When he told his therapist about this over the phone she asked him "are you okay". And he answered no, not really. And went on to explain how depressed he was and suicidal. She wanted to get him right in for an appointment.

But with the job loss, he can't afford therapy and has no insurance. And the therapist / medical group would not make the appointment without payment upfront. Which he could not afford. So in addition to losing his job, he lost his therapist through not being able to afford her services.

He was very much dumbfounded like this and was like "A thought she cared about me, but in the end all she cares about was my money".

This is everything that's wrong with our healthcare system. And it does not work at all for those in need.

Yeah... My dad was forced into retirement during the pandemic and at his age he doesn't see starting over again at another company and a lot of places aren't hiring 60+ year old web designers.

And on the other side of that, I've been looking for a therapist and can't find one. All the good ones are not taking new clients and all the ones left have narrow focus on the traumas and issues they address, or are religious in nature. It's a rough landscape for the mentally taxed.

As someone who both provides and is a consumer of MH services I recognize this as a problem. Finances should not put pressure on the delivery of services, but it does. The provider should and maybe did either offer a phase out of services, or a transition to a community based service. Access to care should be based on need not $$$.

Yes even if you have insurance it’s hard to find a provider. There needs to be some kinds of investment to actually get people the help they need.
