I just think this one rings hollow and will be utterly ineffective, I think it puts the spotlight on the people making the gesture more than it does the issue.

I don’t think they are going to sway anyone and are not bringing any attention to the actual cause. I am willing to bet most people don’t read the article much further than I did as it just seems like click bait (the actual protest not just the article) which is a horrible way to go about a protest.

No one meaningless protest isn’t going to do anything, one meaningful protest could. It just seems ill conceived.

Here I’ll try to put this another way. It seems to me they had about 5% of a good idea (relate what we are doing to what folks in Gaza are going through, that’s it)… the point of a protest should be to put it in your face and get something done. If your design is to get something done then your protest should reflect this. This reads of I’m not going to really do anything but it’s something. These folks have means to amplify their message. An amplified whimper is still a whimper.

If you aren’t planning your protest to be effective, then yeah, why bother?

It can't be a meaningless gesture as you have been going on about it for quite a while now. It's doubtful you are the only one with your same point of view which means others are discussing it too. Seems like the person fasting is getting some attention drawn to the issue which was their intent all along.

I read the other day that the judge said he regretted his decision when he realized that immediately violent threats against the court started to happen when he paused it. Was he living under a rock before?

Anyone willing to not vote for Biden just because of principles or because Biden gives them the sads or whatever either doesn't remember or wasn't around for the absolute shitshow that was Ralph Nader and Bernie Sanders acting as spoilers during those Bush-the-Lesser and Trump v Hillary elections. Bush the Lesser now looks like a fucking paragon of goddamned presidential virtue against the absolute literaly fascist racist rapist foreign spy and grifter that is Donald fucking Trump, but without Nader muddying the water for Gore, he wouldn't have been president during 9/11 and everything that followed. Likewise, although Hillary did herself no favors by being Hillary (ie, unlikeable and unelectable,) Sanders absolutely kneecapped her campaign just by not being Hillary.

However you feel about Biden's policies, he's not out there literally promising to dismantle voting rights, women's rights and install himself as president for life and use his office for revenge and abuse.
