Yup, I sold my copy after hate listening to it twice.
I literally sold my copy of the Merlot Wave a few days ago. The distortion on Halloween was unlike anything I have experienced on vinyl. I grabbed a copy of this because I love the album, and I heard the blue and silver swirl variant that was last released on Secretlys website was miles better sounding than the others, so fingers crossed!

I bought this UK Pressing and cleaned it, of course.
Listened to it while doing chores and in the background while working from home.
I dont recall the crazy distortion on Halloween or any wildly significant issues but never sat down for the focused listen.
The reviews suggest its just as bad as others here have identified.
Now I'm going to have to go back and listen to it through the phones and with a more critical eye.

One must have standards.

What I'm generally seeing is two fold. First is just the pure quality of the recording/pressing that's across the board no matter the color or sourcing. I think someone here described it as sounding like it was recorded in a phone booth and, even as a huge advocate for the album and even liking the vinyl a ton, I will admit to that. Following that, there were notable issues on some copies and pressings like the distortion or other things that shouldn't be there..

My blue/silver swirly does sound far away (lack of a better term on my part) but doesn't have the distortion or noisiness issues others have experienced.
