Pre-Order Thread

Oh I don’t mean mood like that. I mean more like my general headspace. When I’m not in the greatest headspace i disappear inside myself and it kinda closes me off from everything and everyone external. That includes music.

But work is a no go. Working and listening just doesn’t suit the type of work I do.
Yeah… I am more likely to retreat into music. In fact my wife can pretty accurately tell my mood by the music I am playing.

Yeah that can happen to me too sometimes but just hasn’t over the last while for whatever reason. I’m hoping to get back into reading maybe. I’ve let that slide the last few years.
I really shit the bed in reading last year. But I’m still doing it, which wasn’t really the case for like five years with the first kid. So hopefully I do a better job this year.

I see people talk about the difficulty of shipping all the time, but you know you can request that USPS pick up your package for free, right? That might be an issue for people who live in apartments, sketchy neighborhoods, really extreme climates, or rural places where they don't get mail service at your door, but for a lot of people, it's much easier to get records in the mail than you'd think. You just need to print out postage (I use PirateShip but think you can do it at USPS) and go to USPS.com to request the pickup.
That's interesting. In my area, scheduling a pick up for media mail packages is not an option. Only other package options. Now, if I happen to catch my mail lady as she drives by, she will take it off my hands, but no formal pick up option. I would love it if it was, although my post office is only a 5 minute drive away.

This. Ever spent half an hour scrolling through Netflix and then saying “fuck it” and turning off the tv? Same thing.
Problem is Netflix is trying to shill stuff I didn't choose, but all my records I did chose. So it's even more defeating when I can't find something I like out of all the things I chose because I conceivably liked them when I bought them.

I think this is probably why I have my system. If I’m not playing music by going “oh fuck, I wanna listen to this” At the end of a cycle (much less ten seconds into the first song)…. I probably shouldn’t be listening to music that day? More often then not, I cycle through again because GODDAMNED BACKLOG!!!

Which is why I pick movies over series lately. No way do I want to start the commitment of a 7 season series. And no way do I want to start listening to this boxset if I can't finish it in one sitting.
The worst is to commit to a 7 season series that then gets canceled with a cliffhanger after season 3. Worse when it happens with books : I never finished stephen kings dark tower because after it took him up years after the third book I lost interest. Same now with George Martin and Patrick Rothfuss

I need another phone app like I need another hole in the head
I feel you. This one is actually something I added for scrobbling purposes. It accesses my Discogs. I can type in a title and then hit the add a listen button and it sends the info to Last.fm. This is the reason I have it. Completely easy compared to using universal scrobbler or vinyl scrobbler . I think its point is the same as that website that allows you to flip through your collection.

Thanks for showing me what will probably be my favorite new app since Vinyl Scrobbler went pay to use.

Can't wait to use this!
Vinyl scrobbler went pay to use? I just used it the other day cause universal was down and Fresh cogs is not a good tool for boxsets or s.e.s you don’t play all the way through. The interface on vinyl scrobbler meant I basically had to search for everything anyhow … so Universal scrobbler seemed like less of a pain in the ass, especially if whatever you were listening to was listed on whatever muzikbrain is…

You get like 3 album scrobbles per month and then anything more than that you have to be subscribed. I was a HEAVY Vinyl Scrobbler user until then and have since been using the native Discogs scrobbling feature, but missed my play counts and whatnot. This checks all the boxes and more by the looks of it!

I have about 150 records and sometimes I get tired of what I have as I never feel like listening to a lot of the albums I own. I wish I could afford to have 700 + albums in my collection as then I would never be bored of what albums I owned.
I own close to 2,000 albums and while I am rarely bored, finding the right thing to listen to can be a bit daunting. Sometimes I get paralysis by analysis. I sometimes spend more time browsing than actually listening.

It’s like when you pull up Netflix and don’t know what you wanna watch and before you know it you spent an hour watching previews instead of an actual show.
