Pre-Order Thread

So I just looked up Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles @mdmost and it looks amazing! The menu looks great even though I didn't fully understand it. I then looked at pictures of their food and this one here looks so good! I've got some questions though:

1. Is that whipped butter or ice-cream on top of those waffles?

2. What is that square cake/bread on the bottom right hand corner? Is that cornbread? And is it moist?

3. And I'm guessing the other plates have Mac & cheese? I can imagine that being so comforting and delicious when done well!

4. What is that drink they all have too? Is that whiskey? Is having whiskey/bourbon with chicken and waffles + side the ultimate 'southern food' experience!?

If you want some great chicken and waffles hit up Ledger in Salem for Brunch.

Waffle House isn't great. Its cheap and convenient. But people don't go there cause the food is particularly good. All the other places people mentined are probably better.
At least around here, it is mainly popular because it is open after the bars close and it's good sop up the alcohol food. I think that's why they go in that Bourdain clip. Always thought it was weird he went around with Sean Brock when he isn't a local at all. He was definitely pretty trashed in that scene. I think he went to rehab and cleaned up not much later.

Yeah, and I don't want to sound judgemental, but I would be more likely to go somewhere that has a strong reputation and is a bit more contemporary and higher quality. I would want to go to a restaurant like 'Gram and Dun' in Missouri and I wouldn't mind going there twice, like if it's amazing the first time, I'd go back and order completely different stuff! Or somewhere casual like Dame's Chicken and Waffles or Brown Sugar Kitchen in Oakland. or Connie's Chicken & Waffles. Like I'd still go for something more fancy like Gram and Dun, but am happy to try other casual, great restaurants!🤤

Waffle House looks good, but there's so many other great places, that I don't know if I would go there because I love food and I'm a little bit fancy! 🙈 Like, I'll travel anywhere, like I've been to Afghanistan, refugee camps in Palestine, slums in India, trekking in Uganda etc - like I'm not a total comfort snob if you know what I mean. But I always do my research with food and yes, sometimes the cheaper, more basic places have the better food (I'll go there too, especially if the locals say it's the best). But I just would go to the more fancy strongly rated places for waffles because there's so many options and why not if I have the money!💯

Go to Waffle House after a night of drinking to soak up booze. Not for a meal you’ll remember and tell your friends about.

Waffle House is shit food. But it’s also great. All day breakfast on the cheap. It’s not a place to go to have a great meal. It’s a place to go for a cheap, quick, familiar meal that serves its purpose well.
I definitely wouldn't go to Waffle House then. I understand why people would love it because it's very unpretentious, cheap, 24-7, nostalgic etc, but you said it's 'shit food'. So screw that! I'm going to somewhere like Gram and Dun or Red Rooster or even somewhere just more trendy and chilled like Funk 'N Waffles!

To be fair, I also call myself "Lord Diaper Baby" so just 'cause I say it's shit food shouldn't turn you away. I also use that term lovingly. Like, I know what it is and I accept it in all its dumpster fire glory. But I still go there from time-to-time (when I'm in a region of the country that has them; Las Vegas does not have them).

Chicken and waffles is a fabulous combo - famous place or otherwise.

Can we move these multi-paged conversations about food to the VMP-related forums where they belong, please?
It's all Walmart's and Cracker Barrel's fault because they do vinyl exclusives and it's so ewwww and unclassy and worst fashion taste aesthetic when it comes to vinyl exclusives! :ROFLMAO:

Like even for me Target and Urban Outfitters and are cheap because they aren't vinyl focused companies and they Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan exclusives, and just such mainstream generic titles. But Walmart and Cracker Barrell is next level like "what is this?" And that's why the conversation got out of control! Because it's just like ewww, no thanks! 😝
