Record Store Day 2022

I am really interested in what everyone is excited about. Please let me know what you are after! I am especially curious about jazz/blues/soul releases that I might not be familiar with (or, any genre, for that matter).

For example - I learned about Kenny Dorham and Larry Coryell from this site during past RSD
forum posts and they have turned into some absolute favorites!
I’m looking forward to Bobby Hamilton - Dream Queen but I think it’s very limited and am worried I might not be able to find a copy.

So if anybody sees a copy please grab it for me!

I think I'm going to go early to my local this time and since it's a small shop there's usually only about 15 people or so in line when they open. Their prices suck, but they usually have most things for RSD, so I'll keep my eyes out for this one for you.

Looks like it’s a June release. Also it’s listed as a “RSD First” so even if you can’t acquire a copy via RSD there might be a wider release down the road.

Yeah, I’m in on the two “Pepper” releases.

As far as Jazz releases go; I know there is albums dropping from Max Roach, Art Blakey, plus a couple Bill Evans Releases, there’s also Dave Brubeck, Charles Mingus, and Chet Baker being released as well.

You might dig Brian Bennett’s Voyage (A Journey Into Discoid Funk) and Betty Harris - The Lost Queen of New Orleans Soul
The Max Roach is an interesting one. I dismissed it at first as yet another bad repress, but then I saw this:

Looks like Bernie Grundman remastered from the original tapes + a few more classics from the Candid label. But this is an "RSD first" so I would guess you could simply buy it later?

As for the Bill Evans releases, I'm going for the 1979 show over the 1973 show. Anyone know about the sound quality? (

Update: I actually have the 2 x CD of this concert and just relistened to disc 1. The recording quality is very good. My only complaint is that LaBarbera's drums are pretty quiet in the mix, whereas Bill sounds great and Marc's electric bass even better. The CD cover has A, A, D listed so presumably they can mix it better with the original analog tapes for this vinyl release.

FWIW, I think the second best Bill Evans period musically is the last, otherwise tragic year of his life. He had a terrible cocaine habit as his health deteriorated, but you listen to this late trio and it's incredible; the only better trio was the early 60s classic one with LaFaro and Motian.

Assuming you preordered the upcoming Bill Evans - You must Believe in spring Kevin Gray AAA cut? That was supposed to be UK RSD but they made it a wider release

From watching the videos, the Ramones box set visually looks really well done and for seven titles isn’t a bad price. Not my jam but I wouldn’t be surprised if that is popular.

I think a good number of those April titles will be late arrivals or pushed to June. A bunch of them I havent seen on any teasers. Should be interesting

Are there 2 "Peppers" releases? I know(at least out here in L.A.)they released an "L.A. version" of their new record, is this one of the two you're referring to, or is there actually 2 RSD releases, besides that one I mentioned?

I won't be going but if anyone comes across a Jazz Dispensary - Super Skunk, I'd be interested.

LOL! yeah with the Chili Peppers, I suppose there are 3 "pepper" releases when you include that along with the Art Pepper and Pepper Adams releases.

Not sure if this is what you are asking, but there is an Art Pepper release, and a Pepper Adams release. Those are the "Peppers" @MikeH is referring to.
