Record Store Day 2022

There was a lot of...meh released last RSD. So much still available for cheap. Except at my local where it's all still above retail, lol

Totally, I find it interesting looking at past RSD Lists and seeing where that stuff sits in re-sale. So much of it is retail value or less and what's above retail is not what I'd have guessed at the time. There is a 2016 RSD list on Discogs and the stuff at a multiplier is a Bleachers alternate version record, All American Rejects, a pic disc of Disturbed with his face on it, ODB, Bill Evans, etc. It's just so off the wall.

It's kinda fun to watch the RSD videos also just to see the knowledge gaps. In Groove guy seemed entirely perplexed on who Corinne Bailey Rae of all people.

I'm sure many Record Stores do it if we're being honest but most are just smart enough to at least use a different faux account or have someone they know use there account to sell them at marked up prices as im sure RSD isn't going to go that deep with there investigation of things
There was a store in Easton, PA that was flipping a Morrissey 7' for a ridiculous amount about 5-6 years ago. Cannot recall the name of the store - but I do remember being pissed because I was shut out of that release. Always wondered if the powers that be ever learned about it since they were using the name of the store as their eBay id.

Looks like there will be enough of the Alice in Chains release that it should be readily available for awhile. Hope the same for Gojira.

That said, if anyone stumbles across a copy of Opeth's My Arms, Your Hearse I'd love a copy. Not getting my hopes up for that one though.

The agony of RSD - moving from a city with amazing record stores to a place with none.

Finalized my list. Not sure how early to get to my store. Bill Evans RSD titles can move quickly. I'm not sure the demand on Future. Whenever I got to my store early in previous RSD (like 45 minutes before opening) it was painful. It felt like watching paint dry. There isn't energy or camaraderie.

Bill Evans - Inner Spirit: The 1979 Concert At The Teatro General San Martín, Buenos Aires
Bill Evans - Morning Glory: The 1973 Concert At The Teatro Gran Rex, Buenos Aires
Future - DS2
U2 - A Celebration (40th Anniversary)

Does anyone know if the "Hassan Ibn Ali - Retrospect In Retirement Of Delay: The Solo Recordings" is a US only release? Its the main one I was hoping to get but limited to 1000 and I cant find any UK sellers with it listed as coming.

Maybe North America? I know my local said they'd be ordering it.

On the fence about three RSD releases and wondering what N&Gers think:

1) Karen Dalton
2) Joni Mitchell
3) Lou Reed

Anyone else considering these three releases?

It's looking like online RSD purchasing opportunities that arose during the pandemic have all but disappeared? Every shop I've checked out won't be putting stuff online until Sunday or Monday. Any exceptions to this rule any of you are aware of? Might be built into RSD 'rules,' but it sure was nice to be able to shop RSD without leaving the house to wait in a line.

Here's an unboxing video of the Lou Reed release if you haven't seen it. Might help you decide--looks pretty cool. I probably would be interested in the Joni Mitchell release, but I sprung for the 10LP archive box that contains this material.

Yeah, there is a cap on when they can post things online. My local is starting Sunday evening at 7 PM PDT.

Looks like they are doing a Taylor Swift Lottery for their copies too.

Do you need me to keep my eyes peeled for this one? I am just going over one town and they have such a limited selection, but I still like supporting them because it's nice to have a record store that is close-ish.

Wow. Just about everything I was looking at was moved to June. The only thing that I might want this Saturday would be the Pete Townsend release, but its not a get up 5am must have release.

I think the new rule is earliest is 8 AM EST the following day and 1 PM EST the same day before. I guess that just pushes the chaos to the next morning

Do you have the repress from a few years back too?

Wasn't aware their was a repress to be honest. Discogs doesn't show one but some guy in the comments said he got back in 2019.
