September 2022 Vinyl Spin Challenge - 'Cause you can't, you won't, and you don't stop!

Day 7: “Washing windows on the Bowery at a quarter to four, ‘Cause he ain’t gonna work on Maggie’s farm no more.”

Many folks interpret Maggie's Farm as a rejection of the record industry and how it chokes artists' growth by pigeonholing them into a certain genre or sound and constrains their pocketbook with crappy contracts. I'll take that angle with this one...

Sex Pistols - Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols

Day 9: “There’s more to me than you’ll ever know, and I’ve got more hits than Sadaharu Oh”.

If there's ever a time to play a record by these guys, it's now.

Fun and passionate. You'll likely recognize some folks...

Day 9: “There’s more to me than you’ll ever know, and I’ve got more hits than Sadaharu Oh”.

Eddie is a big baseball / Cubs fan. And why not, Wrigley is an amazing place. I Lived in Chicago for a few years and loved going to games there. It's like a beer garden with a baseball game, which is exactly my level of sports viewing.

Never saw PJ at Wrigley, so I'm supplementing today's play with a couple of pics from when I saw Pearl Jam at Fenway in 2016 - same year this album was recorded. An amazing set of shows.

Petite League - Rips One Into The Night

Petite League seem to be quite enamored with our National Pastime, the albums title is something a baseball announcer would exclaim following sharp line-drive into the gap (or something I would say after letting out a thunderous fart). The cover image features a baseball stadium diagram, and the back side of the jacket is stylized to resemble the back side of a baseball card.

I don't have this on vinyl, but the aside in your post made me think of this classic from the Dr. Demento show. I do believe the Paul's Boutique era Beasties would approve of going down this rabbit hole....

Mike Bloomfield / Al Kooper / Steve Stills – Super Session

Bloomfield and Kooper were playing with Dylan when "Maggie's Farm" caused the legendary uproar at Newport '65.

Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers - First Flight to Tokyo

Sadaharu Oh was a professional baseball player who played in Japan from 1959 - 1980. All of those years were with the Yomiuri Giants, who were based in Tokyo. I'd like to think that Oh saw the equally hard hitting Art Blakey when he was touring Tokyo in 1961.

Day 10: “We’re just 3 M.C.’s and we’re on the go, Shadrach, Mesach, Aabendago”

Nine Inch Nails "Pretty Hate Machine" (1989 TVT Records; 2010 reissue)
"Bow down before the one you serve, you're going to get what you deserve" is pretty much the story of Shadrach, Mesach, Aabendago.

I was thinking about what albums have three MC’s or Lead Singers. There are a few in Hop-Hop though if you cut out the DJ and only look for legit MC’s that number shrinks considerably. Even rarer still is a rock band with 3 leads but Rolling Thunder FC fit the bill. The band consists of 3 lead vocalists; Fran Kearney, Tom Russo, and Joe White.
