September 2022 Vinyl Spin Challenge - 'Cause you can't, you won't, and you don't stop!

Day 10: “We’re just 3 M.C.’s and we’re on the go, Shadrach, Mesach, Aabendago”

So Shadrach (Mesach, Aabendango) is a popular song written in 1930, and one of the more famous performances of this song was from Louis Armstrong.

This record doesn’t have Shadrach but it’s Louis none the less.

For a glorious few years back in the oughts, DBT was a 3 M.C. line-up that featured a budding young Jason Isbell. With three stellar songwriters and singers in the band, they produced 2 of the best DBT albums of all time (and arguably their worst near the end of that era - but that's another story for another time.) DBT and Isbell have both continued to make fantastic music, and have long since made peace with each other after a bit of a rough split.

Day 11: “Keyboard Money Mark you know he ain’t havin it, just give him some wood and he’ll build you a cabinet”.

Crowded House "Crowded House" (1986 Capitol Records, Canadian Columbia House pressing)
Some great keyboards backing all of the tracks in here, in particular the Hammond B-3 providing atmospherics and a beautifully melancholic solo in Don't Dream It's Over.

Day 11: “Keyboard Money Mark you know he ain’t havin it, just give him some wood and he’ll build you a cabinet”.

Jimmy Smith and his Hammond B3 would not only build you a cabinet, but would make sure the drawers were dovetailed and that the stain and lacquer were smooth and immaculate.

Day 12: “You think that you can front when revelation comes? Yeah, you can’t front on that”

Leonard Cohen "I'm You Man" (1988 CBS; 2016 reissue)
When revelation comes, that's the apocalypse. This album takes on various apocalyptic themes, starting with the opener First We Take Manhattan and tells us that Everybody Knows the dice are loaded. The war is over, the good guys lost. The fight was fixed. The poor stay poor, the rich stay rich. Watch out for the Jazz Police. Who will save us? Leonard, he's our man. And he'll have a celebratory banana when the smoke clears.

His finest moment!

Day 12: “You think that you can front when revelation comes? Yeah, you can’t front on that”

I imagine the four horseman of the apocalypse will have a pretty heavy soundtrack rolling with them as they do their thing. With track names like Organ Farmer, Superbug, Self-Immolate, and Hell I'd bet that this is on the playlist they are putting together.

That being said, I like @Turbo 's approach, and am picturing Leonard Cohen calmly eating a banana during all of this.
