STAR WARS! STAR WARS! STAR WARS

There's that big one and there's two other things:

Leia's R2D2 message in Star Wars certainly makes it fairly clear she had never met Obi Wan before and likely didn't even really know who he was. So uh, that's kinda out the window unless he like, force wipes her memory or something... And the other thing which is less of an issue but still odd is that Obi Wan heard Anakin referred to as Vader in Episode III but it's a big surprise when they make the reveal in the second episode of the show? He should have already known that.
I read somewhere that Leia 1) may have been being more diplomatic in the message, hence the mention of the clone wars and not any other shenanigans 2) she does know the name "Ben Kenobi" in New Hope, so that implies she did meet him before

As for the Vadar/Anakin reveal, it's quite possible that Obi Wan, living in isolation/working at some kind of meat processing facility, lost track of the greater galactic conflict and doesn't know Vadar is alive/the Emperor's right hand man. Sometimes it seems implied in various shows that basically a lot of people in the galaxy don't know about Vadar. I could be wrong there, as I'm not totally up to speed in the non-show/movie canon. I read a couple of the novels but couldn't get past the prose.

Obi-Wan Thoughts:

So we had Thundercat in the Book of Boba Fett, and now Flea in Obi Wan. Someone at Star Wars likes funky bass players. My guess is that this is leading up to some sort of Clones of Dr. Funkenstein crossover with Bootsy Collins as a major character. After they stopped producing clones for the clone army, the Kamino facility had to pick up income somewhere, right?

If you're like me and are in a major SW mood after watching Obi-Wan and want to read some great comics that take place in that same post-ROTS era, now is a great time. Marvel's been really been pumping out their Star Wars omnibus's, and they're amazing, high quality hardcover collections.

If you're into disney canon, then Charles Soule's run on Darth Vader is a must read. Happens directly after ROTS, and features Vader tieing up many loose ends around the galaxy, as well a training the Inquisitors. He also builds that castle fortress on Mustafar you see in Rogue One. Vader by Soule

If you're like me and grew up with Legends continuity and much prefer it, Marvel just released an omnibus of the first half of the iconic "Dark Times" series, with the second coming soon presumably. Lots of Vader carnage in this one. He don't hold back. This one also has an interesting depiction of the Republic-Empire transition, real interesting stuff. Dark Times

Okay I will say, credit where credit is due. Despite all the canon screwing this show is doing, this last episode 3 was probably the best single episode of any Star Wars show I've seen yet, in my opinion. Real stakes, good action, cool (albeit pretty fake looking in some cases) sets.

I've read all the canon Vader stuff, thanks to my old neighbour for most of it. Soule's run was fantastic. I'm finally digging into the core series (taking place between Eps. IV and V) - just finished Jason Aaron's run which some really great moments and a few just okay moments. I'm excited to dig into Kieron Gillen's back half of the series next.

Obi Wan Ep3 had a few funny moments. Young Leia in the transport asking if this thing can go any faster and are we their yet lol and the storm trooper being sliced in half when he fell on the laser barrier in the first battle

Yeah, that last bit was wild!

they really dropped the ball with not having some dialogue like this in there:
A: Did the sith just kidnap princess Leia.
B: Those weren't sith, just nihilist. Nihilists! F*** me. I mean, say what you like about the tenets of the Dark Side, obi wan, at least it's an ethos.

I may have to see the end beginningwith the vader knowing battle again, because I was a little distracted but obi vans escape via the very slow Droid from hhe fire and Vader watching loked x little unconvincing and too easy

I mean, nothing is really at stake. They can fuck with Leia, Kenobi and Vader all they want, but they all live to see Episode IV. I think the creators really shot themselves in the foot, including all of these recognizables. The only thing we really have to wonder, is which guest spots we see along the way. The battle was neat, but it's just action figures. And, maybe it's just me, but this six episode format Disney is churning out has got to stop.

I totally agree with all of this. I guess I just mean to say in theory there's stakes, but in actuality no, as long as they keep using all the same characters of course we already know what happens to them. But Rogue One is by far my favorite of all the post OG trilogy movies and simply due to the nature of its story it of course has zero actual stakes, we all know what happens. But it felt like it did, and at this point in terms of terrible Nu Star Wars projects, that's enough for me.
