I'd have to start them... something I've been meaning to do since the series began, but it kept getting away from me. I should pick up one of the box sets. It would be fun to revisit the early parts with the different perspective of the novels. I guess I have an incentive now since there's story I don't know at all at the end!

Yes the tv series ended with the 6th book. They were smart with the tv series in leaving some threads open if they ever got the opportunity to do a movie or continue the series.

We loved the Expanse...we binged it fairly quickly, such great storytelling and plot lines. My wife bought Book 1 but hasn't dived into it yet but I could see reading them too.
Wasn't there mention of more episodes based on later books or something?

They left it open. The tv series ended with stopping Marco but the book series picks up again some time in the future. I definitely hope they do another series in the future, but they ended it at a good spot.

Reminds me of how much of a dweeb Marco was on the show. I can't tell if I didn't like him because the acting was so good or because it was so bad.
Anyway, was very happy to see him get his.

I think the guy playing Marco straddled the Nic Cage™ line of acting intensity, and at different times fell on the "suitably intense" and the "whoa, bro, chill out a bit" sides.

Marco is a caricature of a narcissist. He's super over the top in the show, but I honestly think they did a really amazing job with all the casting.
There's a bit of a time jump after that story line, so I'm still hopeful they do a movie or a miniseries and they could use all the same actors. There will obviously be a large part of the story they'll need to write around since they wrote that one character out early... on account of the actor... but they can shift a lot of those minor threads to other characters, I think.
