Just finished up the recent season of Jack Ryan. I think I enjoyed it more than the previous two seasons (definitely better than season 2). The best part of the show is the action sequences and the on location shooting and this show had all that. The political and spy intrigue is all crazy absurd but that is just Tom Clancy for ya. If you can get beyond all the terrible Russki accents it’s a nice way to kill a few hours.

I need to try it again. I loved the movies but it's hard for me to get past "Jim", so it kind of ruined the experience in season one for me. But I need a new show. Been watching Black Snow which is quite good the last couple weeks, but only have one episode left.

I haven’t played any new video games since Play Station 2 and I am not really familiar with the subject matter at all but I look forward to checking it out in the next couple days.

It's my favorite gaming series of all time and the first one proved games can do character studies as well as any other medium. Ecstatic it was given such care.

Great start to the Last of Us. My wife hasn’t played the games and she thinks the Walking Dead and zombies are dumb…and she was fully on board with the show after a few minutes.

Acting, production quality, faithfulness to the source material. Looks like HBO is really trying and investing in making this a good one.

Episode 1 was literally as far as I'd played in the game, but it had been so long I decided to start fresh and played 3 chapters to get ahead of next episode. Should have time to make it even further tomorrow too. So far, so good on the show though!

Echoing sentiments of praise for The Last of Us....got home after a swing shift and watched. Really good. I enjoy the way it opened with the talk show to set the foundation for the infection conceit in this world.

I never played the game (although I'm looking forward to this spring when it is ported to the PC!!!), but I've watched a full playthrough of both games and loved watching them.

The death of Joel's daughter in the opening of the game/show is so heart wrenching and the bond he later develops with his ersatz daughter, Ellie, is beautiful. They captured the former well (I'm not crying, you're crying...although I did find her death more impactful in the game, but maybe b/c it was a surprise back then and - even though I wasn't playing - their is a more visceral sense of control) and I've already read critic reviews that say Pascal and Ramsey have great chemistry.

Can't wait to see this further develop.

Also, "I'm taking a ride with my best friend...."

Great use of that song.

So, so fucking happy with the Last of Us E1.

Would be curious for thoughts from people who haven't played the games.
I haven't played the video game 🎮 nor do I know anything about the Sony PS franchise, and yet I was compelled to watch the series. After watching the pilot, I have to say I'm on board! Ep. 1 lived up to the hype as it was action-packed and absolutely riveting! Looking forward to the weeks ahead...

i did a search in this thread, and it appears that the This Fool has not been mentioned.
why? it is great.
Where is it streaming? I’ll give it a try.

I’ve not played the video game and this is on my list to watch. My produce guy (who I have a date with on Friday) is highly anticipating this one and said that I had to check it out.

I've been meaning to play the game literally for years now. I think I've started it twice and just never got very far because I suck at these types of games, but I'm determined to jump in to it again before starting the show.

If you have a ps5, Naughty Dog became known for their innovation with accessibility sliders starting with Last of Us 2 which is reflected in the Remaster they just did of Part 1.

You can literally adjust to how you want to play the game.

Thanks, this is good to know. I do have a PS5, and I think my plan is basically going to be to make it as easy as possible and just enjoy the story. :)
