This wasn't the series finale was it?

Agreed about "another excellent episode". RD has, since the beginning, had a left field take on storytelling but I think this season was the best at doing that. One could make the argument that it was (superficially) disjointed and seemed to pick up and drop arcs only to revisit them much later. There are plenty of shows that have done that because of bloat and too many storylines to juggle, but I think this was an example of casting a net over a large concept and being exact and lean in execution. What I walked away with as the overarching thru-line regardless of the many characters or timelines were these ideas: community, generational trauma, and the communities role in facing that trauma. I think, IMHO, if you want one scene that served as an encapsulation of the entire season, it would be Willy Jack visiting her aunt in prison and her use of snacks to illustrate community and the unseen connections binding of it all.
Yup, It was the series finale.

Oh dang, I wasn't even tracking. I guess the big themes make even more sense, then, in that context.

Well, I'm sad to see it go but I love a series that knows what it wants to say, says it, and then bows out at the top of their game.
Yeah, this whole season felt like a coda to the main story. The series creator is moving on to bigger and better things. This series probably launched quite a few careers.

I'm not gonna say that people who thought season 3 of Rez Dogs was not as good are shitasses or anything, but I loved it.
I've actually been meaning to look this up, as I haven't had much personal interaction w Native American communities....is shitass a widely used term? Or is it an Oklahoma thing?

I don't think I ever heard someone call some else a shitass, but it is great. I used to have a British boss who called us all numpties and shitass gives me numpty vibes.

I think season 3 of Rez Dogs is great! Loved how it ended. It just felt appropriate. But I do think the season's central idea comes in very clearly in the finale. It is legit about community, and how they will always be tied to it, no matter where they go. I think that was so beautifully highlighted in the weaving in of some backstories of elders, especially the life of Maximus. I do wish it wasn't over. There just isn't another show like it right now. But I guess I now better understand the desire to end it.

Watching Brand New Cherry Flavor on Netflix. We got through E1 and 2 last night.
It's weird, kind of funny and kind of creepy, although I'm not positive it's supposed to be funny.
I love Catherine Keener, and she is great so far in it.
This has been on my list for a long time and I've never gotten around to it. Let me know your thoughts when you finish. It might make me actually watch it!

Not a terrible list though I would definitely change up the order quite a bit. Feels like there is some recency bias at play.

Absolutely some recency bias. Girls is way too high for me, personally I wouldn't even rank it, but whatevs 🤷‍♂️. Breaking Bad is way too low. It seems like a trendy opinion right now to claim that Better Call Saul is better than Breaking Bad. But I think everyone has forgotten how good Breaking Bad was. Both are excellent shows however. Also I think The Office deserves a mention somewhere because of it's quality in the earlier seasons and influence on tons of shows that came afterwards as well as culture itself. Mad Men #1 is good and deserved 100% though.

I agree with almost all of this. Prior to the last season of BCS I rewatched the series up through the series finale and then continued on to Breaking Bad and El Comino and My initial thought was BCS was gonna be the better show overall but Breaking Bad holds up soooo well, the quality throughout both shows are s excellent.

Also, completely agree about The Office. While the post-Carrell seasons really knocked the shows quality down a few pegs. It should still be on the list.

The only point I slightly disagree about was Girls which feels like a show that has been a bit unfairly maligned as of late. While I do think it was ranked way too high, I feel like the show poked fun at a certain type of self-absorbed hipster millennial that was prevalent in the early mid-aughts in a very humorous way. I think peoples hatred for Lena Dunham have sullied the feelings about the show overall.

Yup! I don't think there's any bad seasons or episodes of Breaking Bad, it's phenomenal all the way through. It was suspensful, gripping, had some insane mind-blowing moments (literally) and never felt like it over-stayed it's welcome. The entire plot felt calculated and ended on a high.

I remember really liking season 1 of Girls when it aired, season 2 and 3 they lost me and I just hated everyone. I think I gave up when season 4 aired. The characters just got insufferable to watch and I didn't feel the need to keep up with it.

I do think Better Call Saul takes the edge over Breaking Bad for me personally. But I think Breaking Bad is a much tighter show. It's remarkably consistent and tells a great story with its length. Nothing feels wasted. Better Call Saul is a different feel, but I just prefer that feel in general.

It is weird to see Girls so high, but weirdly enough I just started re-watching it last week. I did watch it when it aired and I moved around from liking it to hating it to liking it. This run through I am enjoying it a lot. I know Lena Dunham isn't a great person, but dammit I think she nailed a lot of these scripts. This is such an interesting time capsule for a time that was not that long ago - especially the first 3 seasons. And I think the characters and how insufferable they are was always the point. It's pretty consistently hilarious, but it also can do some darker more dramatic stuff relatively well too. I don't remember seasons 4-onward very much, so that'll be interesting to re-watch. I think though that this show is kind of great. Not top 10 great, but greater than i ever remembered it being.

As for other rankings on the list, I think Atlanta is way too low and Succession and Reservation Dogs are a bit too high - although I love both shows. For me though Atlanta is a top 5 show ever. Reservation Dogs is amazing, but I haven't had a chance to re-watch any of it, and it just ended so I gotta give it time to fully digest.

I haven’t rewatched Girls but this is how I felt at the time. It seems to have grown very polarizing over the years and a lot of people really hate it now which is fine but also I feel like when lots of people say they hate it, it’s because they hate the characters and call them self absorbed millennials and for me, I feel like that was always the point.

It reminds me of how lots of people watch Cheers for the first time and complain about how much they hate Diane for being a shrill pretentious classist know-it-all and to me that was always the point she is flawed and unlikable but Shelly Long plays it perfectly and hilariously.
