Television

If you are fans of the Wire or David Simon in general, I highly encourage you to watch Homicide: Life on the Street. It is finally coming to streaming on August 19th on Peacock. The late and great Andre Braugher, Richard Belzer, and Yaphet Kotto all head the cast along with Melissa Leo, Daniel Baldwin, Ned Beatty, Clark Johnson, and Kyle Secor. You will notice a good number of repeating themes and storylines from The Wire as this was the precursor to it. The acting is top notch. There are tons of great cameos and guest stars like Robin Williams, Elijah Woods, Steve Buscemi, J.K. Simmons, David Morse, Dean Winters, and Chris Rock.

I've never watched this, but feel like between the on-camera talent and behind-the-camera talent, it's loomed large as a rosetta stone for tv for the next couple decades.

I remember watching the Robin Williams episode the night it aired. Powerful performance from him.

The music credits were the reason it was held up, I believe. That finally got sorted so artists could get paid the fair amount.

I can't wait to rewatch Pembleton's monologue about coffee on the episode where a kid shoots another kid. It's all in the caffeine.

I am looking forward to it. I watched the first season but I am excited to binge the whole thing one the Television instead of my laptop.

Catching up on House of the Dragon. Just finished S2E4. I don’t know how they do it but this series more than most gets me super invested in characters. I want to murder someone myself and am punching holes in the wall at the death in this episode.

Watching The Decameron on Netflix. It's funny, by I've had my wife laughing harder by making cracks about me in the characters.
I'm watching episode two. I enjoy it.

But episode 2 using Type O's "Christian Woman".....heck yea.

Also, I feel like include a duckling when delivering bad news is a pretty good tactic. I would definitely take bad news better if also holding a duckling.

Just finished the first episode of this. Pretty run of the mill so far, not that that's necessarily a bad thing. But what frustrated me is how this girl tries to interview people. It's probably very accurate for what a teenager will do, but having recent supervised a graduate student's research project that involved conducting interviews I spent a good part of my summer explaining on a weekly basis why you can't and absolutely shouldn't do pretty much everything this character does.

I watched all of that series - stick with it - some good twists

I watched the first 4 episodes last night. Loving it so far. Will finish season 1 tonight.

Someone on Twitter said this and I completely agree with it. Episode 7 should've been the finale. Ending with that final shot would've been a lot better than having nothing but a season 3 setup episode.
