Season 1 is waaaay better than 2. The pacing and writing are a mess this season.
I disagree, season one was basically all prologue with multiple actors playing the same role. The whole thing felt disjointed. The saving grace of the first season was Paddy Considine’s Shakespearean performance as King Viserys.

Season 2, was much better narratively, it dived into the actual story. The biggest issue I had with season 2 was them basically keeping Mat Smith’s Daemon cooped up in Harrenhal for almost the entire season.

Idk, maybe it was the fresh dynamic of season 1, but I was really invested all the way through. It helped that all of the actors were great, including Consadine. It had a narrative weight that felt similar to Thrones at its peak.

This season has been several steps down in investment for me. It's fine, but considering they're concluding with season 4, and how much story there is still left to go, it's baffling how little actually happens this season. It's especially weird considering all the superfluous shit they added (everything Mysaria, Daemon's multi-episode Harranhall escapade, Corlas' bastard son, the peasant subplot). This is a story that could have been told in a really tight 3 seasons, and S2 feels like mostly filler.
