When I read this at the beginning of the month and planned it out, I misread it and tried connecting this artist to Kevin Bacon. Anyway, it was fairly easy either way.

Both José González and Jens were born in Gothenburg, Sweden, they also share a similar musical sensibility. I think Jens could add some lovely production flourishes to González music.

Due to sample clearance issues Jens Lekman re-recorded Night Falls Over Kortedala, the reworked album, now entitled Linden Trees are Still In Bloom, includes an ep’s worth of bonus material on side D. One of the songs included, “Your Beat Kicks Back Like Death” is a cover of a Scout Niblett track he originally recorded as part of the SC100 compilation. Scout had also worked with fellow Secretly Canadian Artist Jason Molina on his last Songs Ohia record, Magnolia Electric Co. Molina also recorded an album with Centro-matic mastermind Will Johnson, appropriately titled Molina and Johnson. Will Johnson has worked as the touring drummer for indie supergroup Monsters of Folk, a group consisting of M. Ward, Conor Oberst, and My Morning Jacket frontman, Jim James…

James (along with some of his MMJ bandmates) preforms a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd concert staple “Free Bird” in the Orlando Bloom/Kirsten Dunst bomb Elizabethtown. Elizabethtown was written and Directed by former wonderkind and spouse to Heart’s Nancy Wilson, Cameron Crowe. Cameron Crowes first movie project was writing the screenplay to Fast Times At Ridgemont High. Fast Times at Ridgemont High provided a young Sean Penn with his breakout performance as surfer burnout Jeff Spicoli. Sean Penn would later go on to win an Academy Award for his performance in the Clint Eastwood directed film Mystic River, the same movie also feature a performance by the one and only…

Beirut "March of the Zapotec and Realpeople Holland" - look give this man a guitar and he's in an indie rock/folk rock band not that different than Rilo Kiley, yes I don't read the prompts ahead of time! The first half is indie rock songs backed by a 19 piece band from Mexico called the Jimenez Band, so kind of different right? The second half is indie rock over electronic music, the same but different....

Mike Ness takes Don't Think Twice, It's Alright and gives a roots/rockabilly twist to it on this album.

Morphine "Good" (1992 Accurate Distortion; 2020 ROG reissue)
I played Garbage yesterday, which I would classify as alternative rock / grunge. Morphine took grunge/alternative rock, removed the guitars and replaced them with a saxophone to create a unique form of bluesy alternative music.
