The football thread RenegadeMonster is looking for: NFL talk

As a Niner fan, this year's playoffs are going to be weird to watch from the outside looking in. I'm looking for fun games and would be ok with any of the following teams in the Super Bowl:

NFC:
Commanders
Vikings
Bucs
Packers
Rams

AFC:
Bills
Ravens
Chargers
Broncos
Steelers
Texans

So you're welcome for the Chiefs vs Lions match up.
Also, whatcha got against The Lions?

The Lions and Bills are the two franchises worth rooting for this post season.

The Vikings are good too but they have a slightly less history of suffering than the Lions and had The Chargers stayed put in San Diego they would be worthwhile but the move to LA killed much of my Chargers love.

Commanders don’t have much of a shot but now that Snyder is gone I wouldn’t be upset if they won.

The Buccos are fun mainly do to Baker Mayfield and also, I love that they are a weird franchise that is usually terrible but when they make the playoffs they have a better win rate over the past 20 years than the Packers and Steelers who always make the playoffs but rarely ever win it.

I know I'm in the minority but Dan Campbell just rubs me the wrong way...the team itself is worth rooting for, love Amon-Ra, Hutch, Gibbs and I'd definitely root for them (or anyone else for that matter!) vs the Chiefs

Did you watch The Lions HBO Hard Knocks from a couple years ago? That is what really sold me on Campbell. Dude has a rep of being a big of a meathead footbally type but he had a lot more depth and personality than I would have expected. He he cares deeply, possibly too much for his own well-being about his teams success and failure.

I'm up for anyone that's never won it before in the modern era so a Bills/Lions Super Bowl would be the most ideal. Bills/Vikings would be good too. I don't mind the Chiefs but I don't think they're making it all the way this year. You can thank me for that 3 Peat jinx.

I was thinking about this earlier this season, I feel for the SD area fans and the players as well. They just kinda got plopped into someone else's territory and stadium. Like the LA Raiders.

It's hard for pretty much any non-Michigander to understand what Campbell means to the franchise and city. Decades of doing it wrong...and this guy comes along and goes from 3-13-1 to 15-2 in four seasons. At the time of the hire people said "are they sure they got the right Campbell?" because Matt Campbell from Iowa State was a name as well. People thought it was yet another ridiculous hire. I'm an idiot and so I've had optimism with each failed hire.

This all reminds of when the Red Wings finally got it right with Bowman at the helm and a super solid roster of both drafted talent and free agents. As a fan, it's obviously undeniably fun to watch your favorite team to take shape and move into position to contend. I've seen it with the other three teams in town but started to think it would never materialize for the Lions. Not saying they've won anything yet, but even being the #1 seed is all new to me.

I like Detroit for Dan Campbell. He reminds me of the last time the Cowboys were run as a decent franchise with a head coach that was allowed to do his job when he was a TE for Parcells. I also love watching a franchise completely remake itself under a coach to achieve success. It reminds me of what I would wish for the Cowboys but won't get for another 10 years.

My grandparents had Charger season tickets from the time they played at Balboa Stadium until the early 2000s. Nine year old SonicPharmacist’s first Chargers game was in 1979 against Terry Bradshaw and the Steelers (Chargers won 35-7). I went to many games, suffered MANY heartaches, the move to LA was devastating, however my blood runs blue and gold, they will always be my team. Being a Chargers fan, I fully expect them to lose in some new way never seen before. As long as the god damn Chiefs don’t win, I’ll be happy.
