Day 9
Play another Greatest Hits album

I think that I'm not one for Greatest Hits albums, if I like the band I usually just get all their albums...but I seem to have more than I expected.
Discogs tells me I added this to my collection in 2015...and I have no recollection of that happening...and I even made the submission for this pressing.

Black Sabbath – Greatest Hits
NEMS – NEL 6009, 1982

Irish pressing

Play the first album that you personally gave the title of AOTY

I suppose this is probably what I would have thought should have won the year it was released, as this was released the summer before my freshman year of high school. It was also one of the first albums I followed as best as I could prior to its release and bought it on release day.

It won for "Best Metal Performance" in 1992...but as most really good rock albums, it wasn't nominated for any of the "big" awards.

1991 was a pretty big year for some major releases, though. Had the release dates been a bit different I could have easily had Soundgarden here instead.

Metallica – Metallica
Elektra – 61113-1, 1991

Cut at Sterling
Pressed at Specialty

Day 11a: By the Time I Get to Phoenix
AND
Day 11b: Babel

Bobbie Gentry - Ode to Billie Joe

4CED0A4E-E3D2-49A7-A272-0F023B478657.jpeg

A predominately country album, though its title track was a #1 pop hit (and top 10 R&B hit somehow). The single’s b-side/album opener, “Mississippi Delta” also has more of a rock flavour compared to the rest of the album

Day 11
Glenn Campbell – By the Time I Get to Phoenix
Glen Campbell was the first country artist to win AOTY, play another country album
Mumford and Sons - Babel
Mumford and Sons were played on both pop radio stations, alternative ones and even country ones, Play an album that has crossover appeal

Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood "Nancy & Lee" (1968 Reprise; 2022 LITA reissue)
This is a 2-for-1 with the challenges today, I think.

Nicole Atkins - Goodnight Rhonda Lee (signed)

The first N&G RotM I purchased, the year after it was announced. It was instant enjoyment, and almost certainly would never have heard of Nicole had it not been for this forum. If you are one who partakes in listening to country, soul, singer/songwriter, and certainly Americana music, this is one that might wet your whistle. She's also the first artist/band I saw in 2021 as COVID-19 restrictions were being eased; very fun show.

Day 12

Blood Sweat and Tears – Blood Sweat and Tears
Play a self titled album

Kelly Lee Owens - Kelly Lee Owens (signed)

Another artist I saw shortly after COVID-19 restrictions being eased. A particularly well-spent $16.
Introduced to her music through 2020's stellar Inner Song thanks to you folks. She's elevated her following since then, as she will be opening for Depeche Mode on a portion of their upcoming tour.
