I am not a big fan on unauthorized releases but this one is quite great. I didn’t realize it wasn’t official release until after the fact and since I really doubt an official release (especially one with all the samples) will be forthcoming any time soon, it probably the only option for for fans.

I can’t remember how I first heard this, but it was a nice gateway from classic rock/soul to Afrobeat other “world music.” I ended up spending tons on those Mr Bongo sales because you really couldn’t go wrong with whatever you bought there

Released around the time of his separation with Pattie Boyd (who ended up with his friend Eric Clapton) as well as his return to drugs and drinking heavily. He contracted laryngitis after pushing himself too hard and didn’t wait to heal before recording this, but the sound of his voice fits the subject matter. This record was hated by reviewers when it was released. Totally underrated album

Lets go with another Grammy-winning country artist, and the proud owner of the best hair and beard in the game. And while I loved the Muppet Show as a kid, I don't remember the version of the Gambler that aired on it. I appreciate the fact that they didn't shy away from the Whiskey and Cigarettes lyrics at all for the younger audience, but I gotta say that the muppets they chose for this are a little too 'human' and will probably show up in my nightmares.
