Paulie: [about Adrian] What's the story? What's happenin'? Ya really like her?
Rocky: Sure, I like her.
Paulie: I don't see it. What's the attraction?
Rocky: I don't know. Fills gaps, I guess.

Grandaddy - The Sophtware Slump

Finally was able to pick this one up this year. Modesto forever!

Day 18: Crimes and Misdemeanors

Every day create your history
Every path you take, you're leaving your legacy

Michael Jackson - HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book 1

It also makes me think of how MJ, his estate & fans have tried (and sadly succeeded, to an extent) to rewrite the narrative surrounding him, which makes the HIStory Continues disc a lot harder to listen to now…

18 Crimes and Misdemeanors
"Remember: History is written by the winners. And if the Nazis had won, the future generations would understand the story of
World War ll quite differently" - Aunt May

Speaking of rewriting history...

D-Day: War's over, man. Wormer dropped the big one

Bluto: What? Over? Did you say 'over'? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!...

Animal House ~ OST

Awesome spin on this one. And, Animal House will definitely be in part 2 if I do it next year.

Day 11 - Taxi Driver
Play something about the big city.

"In the city, there's a thousand men in uniforms/And I hear they now have the right to kill a man".

Mid-Air Thief - Crumbling

I just picked this one up on vinyl after enjoying it digitally for a few years, and I think it's safe to say that its eclectic mix of sounds is weird in a good way.

Playing this one exactly as the band intended, cranked up to 11 and not in dolby. You don't do heavy metal in dubly.

The Oakland Elementary School Arkestra – The Saga Of Padani
a2674510908_16.jpg

I decided to focus on "future generations" instead. Here we find 4th, 5th & 6th grade students collected into an avant garde ensemble joined by such luminaries as Terry Riley, Fred Frith, Dave Slusser, and Dave Gordon, Tyrone Hill, & Marshall Allen of the Sun Ra Arkestra

Play an album that uses black on the cover

I played Fiona Apple - Fetch the Bolt Cutters
This prompt is almost a play anything day; I chose this because the title of the album and her pic are both humorous and the cover is mostly black, but not none more black.

I'd play the Sonic Youth song Winner's Blues which is the first song of their album Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star which is quite good! I have the cassette because a friend left it at my house ages ago! I wonder what that fellow is up to these days and I wonder if he still has the case for it because I only have the cassette and I kind of want to reunite those two things!

I haven't listened to The Dogg Pound in so long I'm just going to assume that they have a lot of dog related songs in their arsenal, like they might have let the dogs out back in their day...ok I should really listen to this before making outrageous claims! I still have this on cassette somewhere so I'll dig it out and confirm my suspicions!

Day 12 - Shawshank Redemption
"Remember Red, hope is a good thing. Maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies." - Andy Dufresne

Play something you hope to score a vinyl copy of

I don't really have much on CD that I'd like to get on vinyl that I haven't - with the exception of maybe an XTC live BBC Box Set or something, but I'd like to see a legit pressing of this version that has more of the score used, along with ALL the tracks from the movie.

Various – The Return Of The Living Dead (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)
Happy Star Sounds – HSS245, 2021

Counterfeit/Bootleg I only picked up because it has 3 cues of the main Trioxin Theme. It doesn't sound all that great, but it's something.

I've used my own edited version of the Trioxin Theme as my ringtone for years...starting back when I had a Motorola Razer.

I also don't mind the use of the original Thai movie poster.

Play an album you have a complaint about

Waxwork has released this LP numerous times without correcting the speed of the track "Sail Away Tiny Sparrow". I believe they got their master from La La Land, which also originally had the wrong speed. La La Land corrected it on their 2021 CD release - and yet Waxwork didn't fix it in their latest release - even after KNOWING it was the wrong speed.

This one has a lot of options so since I haven't had my morning coffee I'll keep it mellow and play Beach House, their album Bloom uses black on the cover along with white for a trippy effect that has me memorized...not really I just need a coffee!

Here's a Beach House video that features the cover!
