The May 2023 Record Spin Challenge: Silver Screen Edition

14 The Hangover
"Hey guys, you ready to let the dogs out?" - Alan

Going with Black Dog for this one. And seeing if linking to an image from my icloud account will work while we wait for the uploads to return. Apparently it does.

King Khan – The Infinite Ones

Deeply inspired by Sun Ra and featuring Arkestra stalwarts Knoel Scott and (current director) Marshall Allen, and featuring a deeply moving tribute to Arkestra member Danny Ray Thompson, there is so much to love about this King Khan LP. One thing I do not love about it, though, (and sadly this is far from the only album in my collection I have this complaint about) is that the spine is misaligned and I have to file the record upside down for it to read the same way as the rest, otherwise my brain gets cranky! A very minor complaint, maybe, but it tilts me pretty hard!

Sirius, the dog star, is the brightest star in the night sky and this compilation features the song "Star Bright" so one could infer that the song is indeed about Sirius, the dog star, if one were perhaps trying to make something fit for a clue in some sort of challenge.

15 - Dr Strangelove
“Mr. President, I'm not saying we wouldn't get our hair mussed. But I do say no more than ten to twenty million killed, tops.
Uh, depending on the breaks.” - General Turgidson

Gonna go with the subsequent scene to the prompt from Dr. Strangelove, love this movie. Guessing that Frank had at least half of these in his Vegas suitcase.

"Survival kit contents check. In them you'll find: one forty-five caliber automatic; two boxes of ammunition; four days' concentrated emergency rations; one drug issue containing antibiotics, morphine, vitamin pills, pep pills, sleeping pills, tranquilizer pills; one miniature combination Russian phrase book and Bible; one hundred dollars in rubles; one hundred dollars in gold; nine packs of chewing gum; one issue of prophylactics; three lipsticks; three pair of nylon stockings. Shoot, a fella' could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff"

16 Flirting with Disaster
“- Lonnie Schlichting: I'm sorry.
- Mary Schlichting: Sorry for what?
- Lonnie Schlichting: I'm sorry that I put windowpane in Mel's quail, and I'm sorry that you ate it.”

Play something about regrets

If you haven't seen Flirting With Disaster it's really a treat, especially the first time. Outstanding cast and some hilarious twists.

I played Fiona's Idler Wheel for the song Regret

I had friends I used to do acid with and we'd always somehow end up watching hours and hours of Kids in the Hall! Someone had what seemed like every episode ever made on a VHS tape that always ended up on at some point in the night! Now if you asked me my favorite sketch or asked me to remember any sketches I draw a blank, it's really bits and pieces, I started watching a while back and kind of remembered but also felt like I was watching it again for the first time! I don't think I still have the Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet CD that had the theme song on it but I do remember listening to that a lot, can't tell you any song names or what it sounds like but that's because I'm old!

Side note: Flirting with Disaster is a fantastic movie, or at least I remember it being fantastic!

This is one of my favorite under the radar artists to turn folks on to. Also - that cover leaves the door cracked just enough to entertain the possibility this is actually @Lee Newman incognito...
