The NBA Thread

I think the MVP is going to Giannis.

Could be. Bucks are the 1 seed and he is the best player in the NBA. But it's also felt like his least dominant season since before he first won. I'd personally give it to Embid.

But there was no wrong answer before the Nuggets went from looking like only the Suns could knock them off in the West to a team that looks like it might lose in the first round.

I think the MVP is going to Giannis.
Giannis has played about 260-270 fewer minutes than both Embiid and Jokic, equating to more than 7 fewer games played at an average of 36 minutes per. With Embiid and Jokic hovering just above the future arbitrary 65 game limit and giannis having to play the last two games to meet that with much fewer minutes (probably won't with the 1 seed locked up), it seems unlikely they would contradict the problem with a new solution that doesn't actually address the issue du jour.

I would understand if he won but I think voters would generally be twisting themselves into that result instead of how they have traditionally voted.

I think its Embiid. All 3 are deserving, but with voter fatigue, I say just give it to him. For Milwaukee I'd rather see Bobby win 6th man which is probably between him and Brogdon, or Brook win DPOY. I'd like to see Mike Brown for COTY as he did a hell of a job with that roster this year.

Lots of close races with multiple people deserving except I think Mike Brown should be the runaway winner for COTY. MIP I think should obviously go to Markkanen but SGA is also in the conversation even though I don't think MIP should go to players on an obvious "trajectory" like SGA, as when Morant won. From what I've seen 6th man will be between Brogdon and Quickly even though IQ's started a quarter of the games and logs significant starter minutes. I'm sure crazy eyes will be up there though. I'd pick Brook for DPOY but the votes out there already are leaning Mobley, which would be a heavy loss to Vegas this late in the year. I'm not a gambler, but I check these things out of curiosity.

All accurate. Id have

MVP- Embid
Coach- Brown
MIP- Lauri
6th man- Brogdan
DPOY- don't have a strong opinion

Quickley only starts when guys ahead of him are injured. which was about 15 games with Brunson out. Then he played 5 or 6 when Brunson was resting at the end of the season.

Quick has been more important and effective for his team than Brogdon. When he comes off the bench, Knicks outscore opponents by 7.6 points per hundred possessions. And lots of guys have won 6th man with more than 30mpg. He’s at 28 even with the starts.

I have no problem with IQ winning but sometimes voters care about that kind of thing and sometimes they don't.

Do you see RJ's workload staying about the same during the playoffs? That stat went around that the Knicks are basically title contenders when he's not playing, but going smaller against the cavs may not work.

i personally think they should bring RJ off the bench from now on. I don't think the FO has the balls to do it though after giving him that extension. RJ will really be the x-factor for us. I really hope he can put some consistent games together. Randle's health too will be important but I do think we can play well still without Jules for a few games.

This Kings series and the discourse surrounding it is gonna give me an aneurism.

Warriors are playing like shit-Poole and Kuminga have been awful and Klay isn't his usual self.

Draymond's ego continues to go unchecked causing self destruction and idiotic taunting.

Sabonis is dirty af grabbing and flopping and making himself look like the victim. Replays conveniently leave that part out though and prefer to make Dray look like a homicidal madman, because that narrative is a lot easier to sell. Not to mention all the Kings guards grabbing the hell out of our guys running around screens, shoving rebounders, etc. Refs dont seem to care.

I get that this looks weird to people but it's not hard to find out why he does this is with minimal research.

He's been taught to fall on the advice of doctors to lessen the impact to the lower extremities.

Once you know this fact combined with him not playing today due to knee strain it's extremely obvious he's falling because his knee and lower back (from repeated elbows) are sore. The discourse over *falling* having nothing to do with trying to gain any advantage is frankly weird.

Well if he didn't get an outrageous # of foul calls via those flops than nobody would be judging. But he does.

This guy gets it. Ummm… I’m doing everything in my power to suppress being a cocky Heat fan but the Knicks don’t scare me. Let’s focus on the Bucks first. They look demoralized
Knicks don't scare you? Famous last words. Cavs fans said the same damn thing.

I'm scared as hell of playoff Jimmy though. I'm a huge fan of his.
